I will be arriving in Douglasville on 13 Aug 08 and will need many recomendations. I'm looking for pet/owner friendly veterinarian, orthodontist, doctor for family, good school district and on and on! Husband will be working at Fort McPherson. Any help will be appreciated.
Thank you all for the info. We have appointments all day Thursday to look at rental houses as we will be in Georgia for 2-3 years. We then procede to Fort Bragg NC. Our house has sold in Ohio and the moving van has driven away with all our worldly belongs. Military/civil servants, you know the feeling! As of Sunday my computer access will be gone. I'll undate once I select the new rental. We have not rented for 11 years so I'm a little nervous.
Welcome!! I live in Dallas, about 20 minutes from Dougalsville. South Cobb OBGyn is a great practice. We have a great peditrican at Cobb Peds, in Dallas off of Dallas Hwy, I can send you the number if you want. Our vet is awesome too, Dr. Bowen at The Ark animal Hospital in Hiram. All are about 20 minutes from Douglasville. I hope this helps! :)

Welcome to the area. Just thought I would let you know Fort McPherson has a veterinarian on the post. We have used them before for our dog,until we found someone closer to where we live. Do you have any idea as to where you all want to live in the area? Fort Gilliam has the large commissary and PX. However, you don't want to be in that school district because they are going through some changes. Are you sure you will be living in the Douglasville area? Fort Gilliam is about twenty minutes from the airport and thirty minutes from Ft. McPherson. Hope this help. P.S. My husband is retired military.

Hi P.. I am orginally from Ohio as well. We were living in Vinings Area here until moving to Douglasville a few months ago. Holly Springs is a nice subdivision and has one of the best elementary schools in the county. It is further from I-20 which I think makes it easier to get around. There is a real estate agent that I can recommend that lives in Douglasville and knows the market (Susan Martin with Tina Fountain). They have a great website to search on as well. Hope that helps!
Chpael Hills is a great sub. Golf Course, swim & Tennis. The Chapel Hills Schools are very good (From what I hear) This is our 1st year in Public School) and my daughter is on the 4th grade @ Chapel Hill Elem. Stay away from Anneewakee Trails subdivision.
Douglasville Oaks is a great Vet and the prices can't be beat. It feels like the old type of Doctors office for your pet. You actually make appoinments just as you do for yourself. He is great. Creekside Dental next to the Douglasville Hospital *right off of chapel hill Rd*. He is awesome - tell them B. sent you. I know his daughter has braces but I am not sure if he does them or not. Either way, they can give you a great referral if he doesn't do the braces thing! South Cobb OB/GYN also in the same bldg as the dentist. There is also a Pedetrician in the same bldg that our babysitter works in and I could get that number if you need it. The Breast Cetner _ Dr. Angela Robbins - also in the same bldg is awesome if you ever need mamograms or specialty. It just so happens Douglasville is still small but I have found it to work well because other than work and Church, we have not had to travel for for the necessities.
