New to Burbank & Need to Find a Good OB

My family & I have been in Burbank for almost 6 months now, and just found out I'm pregnant w/ my 3rd child. I've looked at so many websites for reviews on good OB's in the Burbank area, and I don't feel like I'm any closer to finding a good doctor. Any other moms out there, maybe that recently delivered and had a great experience w/ a doctor and/or hospital? I would love your input, as I need to find a doctor soon! I also recently started medication for being hypothyroid, so it's important that I find an OB quickly.

What can I do next?

Welcome to Los Angeles :)

The problem with Burbank is the hospital, St. Joseph's, is NOT a birth friendly hospital so most of the good doctors don't/won't work there. There is one good doctor there:

Christopher Pearson
1411 W Olive, Ave D
Burbank, CA 91506

If you birth at St. Joe's, you'll want to stay home as long as possible - they won't 'let you' get out of bed once you're in active labor or your bag of waters has released ... and being stuck in bed makes it very hard to labor well! There's a great nurse there named Susan Chait -- ask for her if you're there and she'll support your birth plan :)

Happy Birthing!

I love Dr. Pearson.

For regular appointments, the wait is pretty long. But when you are pregnant, the wait for the pregnancy exams is pretty quick. Not sure why that is, but it is! His whole staff is great, too, and I have been going there over 6 years.

Dr. Kim Reyes is the best! I drive all the way from the Westside to Burbank so that I can go to her. She's very caring, thorough, and supportive. She's on Olive. Phone # ###-###-####.

I personally did not care for Dr. Pearson. The wait times in his office were unacceptable. While he was very nice when we spoke in his office, his actual exam left a lot to be desired (including the fact that he left the exam room door open after performing a pelvic exam - I realize the nurses have seen a naked woman before, but I was not amused.)

I have had 2 friends deliver with Dr. Stephen Schmones, and both were very happy with him http://www.insiderpages.com/b/3710964366

I don't have any personal experience, but my friends have beautiful, healthy babies (both born at St. Joe's.) I don't know how "natural birth" friendly he is, or if that's important to you. Worth looking into!

If you're willing to make a 15 minute drive, I love my OB up in north Glendale, Dr. Alice Yun. She is part of a 3 woman practice (Dr. Kerri Parks and Dr. Tamayo are the other 2), and they deliver (primarily) out of Glendale Adventist, which IS a natural birth friendly hospital. http://www.yelp.com/biz/alice-yun-md-glendale

Congrats, and good luck with your search!

I highly recommend Dr. David Newfield. He has a great bedside manner and is always available for questions/problems. The front office and nursing staff is very professional, helpful and friendly. I hardly ever have to wait for appointments. I am currently seeing him for my third delivery in March.

Try Dr. David Newfield. I just had a baby in November. His office is great, usually no wait time, they are very friendly and thorough. He could always fit me in when I had a problem or question.

This was my second child and second c-section. It was a much better experience than my first with a different doctor. And St. Joe's in Burbank was a great place to have a baby, wonderful nurses and care.

Good luck!

Hi M.,

I have been going to Dr. Jehuda Renan for almost 10 yrs. He has a nice office in Burbank, the staff is friendly and he is too! He always puts you at ease during appts. and is easy to talk to about any concerns you may have. And he delivers at St. Joseph's hospital, which is right across the street from his office. I've delivered 3 of my 4 children at St. Joseph's and had a great experience every time. Good luck and hope this helps you. His # is: ###-###-####.
