Hi Moms
My family and I just moved to Baltimore from Texas. I have a 3 year old and one year old. We found a place to live in Locust Point.
I am looking for any advice you can give me on:
-daycare and preschools
-pediatricians
-playgroups, mommy and me classes
-gymnastic, dance, and swimming classes

Thanks

What can I do next?

Hi K.
Welcome to Baltimore, I'm sure you miss Texas like crazy, but I hope you'll grow to love it up here, too. I'll second Pamela's suggestion of Baltimoremommies.com - you do have to apply and be approved, but it's pretty quick. I've been a member for two years and absolutely love it. Great advice on parenting, life, activities for the kids - and lots of events and activities both with the kids and for just mommies. There's a special section for relocation and the other moms will have plenty of suggestions for all of the things you're looking for.
I have an almost 3-year old son who I'm happy to volunteer for potential play-dates though :)
Hope to see you on baltimoremommies soon!
Rachael

Hi K.-Unfortunately I don't have an answer to any of your questions....I just wanted to be the first to welcome you to Baltimore. I was born and currently live in Baltimore County with my husband and our 3 1/2 and 1 1/2 year old boys. I work downtown but I don't have any personal experience with kid activities in the area other than the standard aquarium, science center, port discovery, zoo which are great but all cost a bit of $$. I do have a friend who is a member of Baltimore Mommies http://www.baltimoremommies.com/ which may be helpful. Talk to you soon!

Welcome to Baltimore!

The closest pool to you is, I believe, the Otterbein Swim Club. Meadowbrook has great swim lessons, and depending where you are in Locust Point, it is easy to take the Light Rail to get there (Mt. Washington stop).

Hi K.,

I moved to Baltimore from New York two years ago. There's a lot of kid-friendly stuff. I highly recommend joining Baltimore Mommies for play groups, etc. (It's a website, but there are events to attend as little or as much as you want, and you can join subgroups based on your neighborhood, etc). The website is: http://www.baltimoremommies.com/

We are very happy with our pediatrician, but they're in Baltimore County, not City, so it might be inconvenient). Just in case you're interested, the practice is called Maryland Pediatric Group, and their website is http://www.mdped.com/ The doctor who we see there is Amy Winkelstein, and she's fantastic.

Best of luck with everything!!

A.
