Hi, I am a married 27 year old mommy win three amazing kiddos. We just relocated and have finally fulfilled our dream of moving our family here. My husband lived here for several years before we met, but I have never lived here. I've visited tons of times but now that I am a resident, I am hoping to find some groups to join in order to meet more people. I love to run, hike, swim, read, explore, and I am addicted to music. I hope that someone can point me in the direction of where to meet some fun people--parents or not-- to enjoy the city with.

MOPS stands for Mothers of PreSchoolers. If you Google it for Austin, you will see a number of groups listed. It will be a great way to meet other moms, have great childcare, and enjoy breakfast and a program. Surely you will meet other mothers who like to read, run, sew and cook and walk. It is a great program.

Join a running group! Rogue Running is on the east side and they have group runs on the weekend. Good way to exercise, meet people with similar interests, and see Austin.

Welcome! I also recommend checking out Central Market. They have a great patio to dine and a playground - all at a grocery store! We love it and you can find more info at (http://www.centralmarket.com/Stores/Austin-Central.aspx) Also look at the Austin City Recreation website for information about events (http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/parks/events.htm). If you run, check out RunTex (runtex.com) because they do group runs and have a listing for 5ks through the website. I am too far north, but I know Zilker is a great place to meet people. I've met some great people through groups I have found on meetup.com. I also really like the libraries here. The library near us has a book club and they have GREAT story times for the kids. A lot of stores around here offer groups through the stores. I know one of the sewing stores near me has different sewing groups, and a triathlon store has different bike groups and running groups that start at the store. This area is great for groups! There are also some great kids event websites, too. One I check periodically is kidevents.com. You can also find a local free magazine called Parent: Wise or Austin Family that will list things and they are at many businesses in the area. So much to do here! Good luck and welcome!
