I have a boy who is not yet ready for Kindergarten. I am a former K teacher and have also had him evaluated for Kinder readiness. I am looking for the right Pre-K or Preschool where he can thrive both socially and academically for the next year before he begins school. Any suggestions from you all would be much appreciated.

What can I do next?

Well, first welcome to Spokane. Well, almost. I have a friend who is a teacher (taking a couple of years off to be a mommy) and she just enrolled her daughter in the preschool program at First Presbyterian (sp?) downtown. She looked into lots of different places and was extremely impressed with this one. It is right off of the freeway, so depending on where you are going to live, it may be closer than some of the other ones, but alot of that depends on where you live. Do you already have a home up here or are you going to be looking for a home? Just curious. We are actually going to be putting our house on the market soon so that we can move back East to be near family....so if you're interested in learning more, let me know. Good luck.

Hi J.,

I am from California also, so welcome. I have a soon to be four year old and she is enrolled at Kindercare(aka Kelsey's Learning Center)on Mullan in Spokane Valley. I know there is also a few other locations in spokane. My daughter loves it there and they have a cericulum they follow and provide other services like hooked on phonics and stretch and grow. My daughter attends both and has so much fun. Stretch and Grow is program where once a week they get the kids together and teach them about nutrition, their muscles/bones, and hygiene all in a fun activity where they jump, dance, and stretch. The Staff is great and are quick to alert you of any changes in her day. They don't move kids to another group until they have mastered the skills they need for that age. You can look them up online and see what they are all about. Once you get here I would be happy to help you get settled. Here is there web site... www.kindercare.com
