So What Happened?

I came with an in-expensive way to make my own center piece. I bought cubed kleenex boxes and covered it in colorful paper and nemo stickers and I added pictures of my son throughout his 1st year of life. Its sounds funny but it actually came out very cute. I got the Kleenex boxes at the .99 cent store so it was a lot cheaper than buying a memory cube at michaels. I spent $8 on the boxes and I used my scrapbooking paper leftovers so it was a fun project after all. Thanks for the help.

I was looking for something specific for a party and found this website called shindigz.com they have all kinds of themes for all ages. Give them a try they have decent prices, and you can also make presonalized banners too!
Just something to think about.
Good luck!

I hate it when that happens!! I usually find out of stock or discontinued on EBay. Or You could do small fish bowls with those colored rocks and then put pics in them instead of fish. We did something similar for a friends little girls part with birdcages and they were the take homes for family members like grandma and auntie.

What about a large plastic fish bowl, put colorful "rocks" in the bottom and suspend pictures of him with fishing line. My daughter had a nemo party in preschool years ago and I got those foam sheets (Walmart/Michaels) in sea colors and had self stick foam stickers of ocean theme for placemats.

For my baby's first b-day, I bought a few of those plastic photo cubes at Micheals and put pictures in them and used as the centerpieces. I tried to make each one a little bit different and personal so then they were the favors for just immediate family to get to take home.

Your child is going to one, and won't remember any of the decorations! The guests would love hibicus floatin in a bowl or something very simple with fish. Save the photos of your child from the table and let the folks enjoy your child in person. First birthdays are fun, but don't expect too much from your child. They just don't care. Later will come the expensive birthdays, save your money!!! Keep it simple and you will have more fun yourself! The fish/gold fish (edible) are a great idea!

for a cake check out coolest-birthday-cakes.com. they are all homemade and they have EVERYTHING. Even if you aren't planning on making it you can print one for someone to use. Costco just had nemo party sets that were an awesome deal but I think they may have been clearing them out. It was $5 TOTAL for 50 each of plates, cups, bows, and cake plates. Plus 20 place mats. I just used it for my daughters "beach themed party." I didn't use the placemates (we were at a park and it was a little windy i did not want to chase them all over) if you want them I could send them to you. I don't plan on using them. Just send me a private message with your address. I kinda made up a game so the kids could get there "goodies" instead of just giving them a bag with stuff. I printed a bunch of fishies(just generic but I know you could finde nemo online a lot of different character would be really cute) and laminated them (not necessary) and attached a paper clip to each one. I attached a ticket to the back of each one with the "prize" that went with it written on the ticket. Prizes were cookies, candy bars, dollar bills, and some that said "prize" so they could pick and item from the treasure chest whick was coloring books and small toys (I had hit up the clearence at the disneystore) We made 3 fishing poles out of pipe with a string and a magnet on the end. I spread the fishies on the ground. Each kid got to "fish" and catch 3 fish. I limited each kid to 1 "prize" fish and if they got a double of another gave them the choice if they wanted to throw it back and try for something different. It was just a fun way to had out prizes and wasn't competative or difficult. Plus it was cheap! good luck I hope you find what you need!

I remember seeing somewhere a fun recipe for a clear bowl and blue jello and gummy fish so it looked like a fish bowl. Seemed like a fun snack and you could make big ones for center pieces then let people eat them as dessert. Good luck.

Your best bet is to do a google search on birthday supplies for kids. One magazine I love is: http://www.birthdayexpress.com/

HI,

for a NEMO center piece, I think you should go to the fish store and actually pick up a fishbowl and put little 'NEMO' fish inside of it. Then, of course, if you have a fish tank, transfer the fish into the tank. Watching the fish in a little fish bowl or INDIVIDUAL BOWLS will be quite facinating for all the kids! Good luck and those fish are absolutely beautiful!

I had an ocean theme for my son's 1st bday too. We put live goldfish in fish bowls on the tables. It's fun to look at and you can give them away as party favors. Have fun!

What about a little plastic fish bowl with a few goldfish and a little castle or something on the bottom? Safe and fun for everyone. People could even adopt them at the end of the party.
Good Luck

HI I do diapercake centerpieces and have done one simlar for a party which was a fishing theme. Check out my Etsy site and you can see one, the little one is 7.99 an includes 7 diapers ( whatever size you request so they can actaully be used too. The little stick is used as a message or picture holder, so you can put pictures of him throughout the first year in the holder.

They are quite darling. Let me know if you want to see more pics.

Fun theme for a first bday

I vote for the goldfish. Maybe you can find some colorful action figure deep sea divers.

I also had a Nemo party for my 2 year old. She absolutely adores the movie. I was able to find balloons with nemo and put them on a weight for the table as a center piece for the buffet table. For the outdoor tables where the guest ate I put Gold Fish in a bowl as a treat/appetizer. I also had those yummy gummy treats you can find at ralphs that are Nemo treats. They are like gummy bears.

Otherwise, I did a search on google for Nemo party theme ideas...you'll find tons of ideas you can do at home.

I hope this helps.

i like the fish bowl idea, go pick up a cute little fish bowl and put some nemo fish inside it like the last momma said, but i was also thinking you can put a few small picture frames with your kids photos in them inside. or you can "paper mache" them on the outside of the bowl with some waterproof glue and then fill the bowl with water and a few fish or something like that.

ps, costco is selling a nemo dinnerware set right now, i think its like 250 pieces and its only six bucks! super awesome price and super cute stuff!

I know it's not a clown fish, but what about a small bowl with a goldfish swimming around in it... then you can have some sort of a contest or whatever to see who takes them home.

PS don't use saltwater fish as they will more than likely die before they get to their new owners homes. Saltwater fish are VERY delicate and have to have filters and all this other nonsense that freshwater fish don't have to have.

I was also going to suggest a fish bowl in the middle. my friend actually had beta fish in her center pieces at her wedding (a nod to their recently departed pet, Tartar Sauce) and the middle of the bowl (I actually think it was square) they put roses. But maybe you could put balloons or something in the middle. And the kids could take home the fish. (if you do this, maybe also supply a small can of fish food for each one too.) Have fun!
