It's now been 2 months since my last period. I've taken 4 home test and they've all been negative. I've been told by several ppl to go to the doctor to take a real test. But from what I recalled all you do it pee in a little cup. It's obvious that it's working. Has any one else experienced this?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I have an appointment on 6/13. I'm going to have to take another test and also have a pelvic exam. Oh and I've now taken 6 at home test and all have been negative. Wish me luck!! And thanks to every one for the support.

It's now 06/22 and I ended up starting my on May 31st. So we're not pregnant. Which is ok because now my other half and I are having relationship problems.

I've had the same situation - the BEST way to confirm you are pregnant is to have a blood draw, and a pelvic exam. I hadn't had a period in 3 months, took 4 home pregnancy tests, went to a walk-in clinic and peed in a cup, and they all came out negative - but when they drew blood, I WAS PREGNANT. Good luck!

You can actually ask the doctor to take a blood test, they're far more effective. Good luck either way :)

sometimes those tests do not work (at all) a dr. can confirm pregnancy also by a blood test....you need to go there is something wrong when you have missed several months. Dont rely on other things to determine the outcome.

Please call and make an appointment to see your doctor. If it's nothing then so be it. You'll feel much better either way having talked to your doctor. Most of the time they will have you draw blood to verify if you are pregnant or not if the at home test is not working. The at home tests are best taken first thing in the morning with your first urination of the day. This is the time that the pregnancy hormone is at it's highest. Please call an make an appointment so your doctor can help you out if it's more.

I don't think a urine test at the doctor's office will be any more effective than an at home pregnancy test. maybe a little more effective, but not much. Schedule an appointment for a blood test to detect the pregnancy hormone. That's the only way to know for sure.

Hi! I have experienced this. It was due to stress. My periods stopped for 2 months at which point my doctor said that it will usually reset itself. To my relief it did! Anywho, please see your doctor. They may even run a blood test. Hopefully they can help you gain a bit of knowledge on why your periods have stopped. Good Luck!

The test that you take at the doctor's office will be more accurate than a home test. I suggest going. Good luck.

Hey M.,
Do you have any kids? or probably it wouldn't make any difference it's probably you're just having irregular periods...Like ever sinc I had kids my periods were never regular they came when it came...Sometimes I'll go 4 to 6 months without my periods when it finally decides to come it'll run about a week or more....Due to irregular periods I am now Anemic and Have ovarian cysts just last weekend....So i was kept in ER overnight for pain medications and some Iron Fluids...So i don't mean to scare you but I too took some pregancy tests it was useless it just came when it did....But just take it easy and give it another month if you get more worried Please call your OBGYN DR...for check up.... Good Luck and God Bless...

the tests they have at the doctors office are far more sensistive and accurate than the ones you get at home. go to the doctor anyway because your missed period is probrably nothing but could be a sign of a problem. good luck!

I had that happen and all the way up until 3 months the test came out negative including the one the doctor did.. then at 3 months i had a positive.. but when i went in to hear the heartbeat there wasn't one and they did an ultrasound.. I was pregnant with twins but neither one of them survived... I had to have a d&c I hope your results are better than mine.. good luck..

you're probably not pregnant since home tests are mostly accurate. but there could be something else wrong. i'd go to the doctor just to get checked out. I've had times where I've skipped a period or two from stress.

I agree that it could be something more serious so you should go to the doctor anyway. If you tell them you have been taking hmt and they are negative I'm sure they will do a BLOOD TEST which can't lie! Best of luck. Also remember that a positive can be the faintest of lines in a pregnancy test!

Well, it is possible to go without your period and not be pregnant. Mine just stopped for no reason at all and I tested intermittantly and had negetive tests, BUT I still got pregnant eventually (so if you don't want to get pregnant, make sure you are using some form of BC) and this was confirmed with a very positive test. The doctor can also do a blood test to test for pregnancy (it will test just the smallest levels of the pregnancy hormone), so it can't hurt to go and see the doctor. They may be able to give you insight as well as to why you have stopped having a period. Good luck!

Hello, M.!

At the Doctor's office, the first test they will do is the "pee in a cup" test. It probably will come out negative like your other results. But because it's been 2 months, they may send you to the lab & get the blood pregnancy test done. I don't recall if you get the answer right away. I know your Doctor can ask them to rush it for same day results. This has happened to me once before. Don't worry. I was 8 weekes pregnant & everything turned out fine.

Sometimes when we are overly stressed that could lead to missed periods. Also If you have started excercising that is a change your body may not be use to if it's not a normal routine. My best suggestion is yes go to your doctor and take another urine test, the ones you have purchased may be inaffective or an unreliable brand. Last an final suggestion you could always take a blood test, this is to be said to be the most accurate if nothing else works. Hope you find results soon! Take Care and God Bless!

Whether or not you are pregnant, something is going on- you're missing periods!

Go to the doctor as soon as you can and find out what it is. My older sister missed periods and had wacky leakage from her breasts, but wasn't pregnant. The doctors ran tests and concluded that her pituitary gland was the problem. She's on medication and things seem to be going well.

Good luck and Take Care!

If the home tests are coming back negative after two months most likely there's another reason. There are other reasons you can skip periods, so you definitely need to go see your doctor!

You should call the Dr. and tell them your symptoms. They will likely do a dip & read preg. test and a pelvic exam. They may schedule an ultra to see if there are other causes for the "missing periods", and they may do a blood drawn preg. test. My sister did indeed test neg. on home tests for the entire first trimester when she was preg. with my nephew. She was still breast feeding my niece and her body apparently sent mixed signals, causing her hcg levels to stay low. If you've been preg before, I think you JUST KNOW when you're preg.

Hope it helps~ J

Sometimes the doctors will take blood to test your hormone levels. The tests at the doctors office are definately more reliable, but if there is any doubt about the results they should do a blood test. And if you are not pregnant you should probably talk to your doctor about why your period has stopped. So, either way a trip to the doctor cannot hurt.

Good luck!

Yes. I thought I was pregnant and ended up taking six at-home pregnancy tests...all negative. I still believed I was pregnant so I went to the doctor and asked for a blood test, and that came back positive. At-home pregnancy tests test for a certain hormone and in my experience, they didn't detect it because it was a weak pregnancy that ended in miscarriage. I'm not suggesting yours is the same, but you should get a blood test.

Given that it has been two months and both tests produced a negative result my assumption would be that you are in fact not pregnant. I have had irregular cycles my entire life. I skipped two years once and was put on birth control to regulate me. Many factors can contribute to this...stress, excessive exercise, breast feeding, if your eating habits have changed, etc. In any case I would recommend that you consult with your physician.
I wish you well.

Are you on "the pill"? There were a couple (I can't remember the names now) that stopped my period completely.
You may just want to call your doctor. 4 negatives seems unlikely if you were indeed pregnant, but it could also be ovarian cysts.
Good Luck

I went through the same thing - took the professional test, yes it is the pee in the cup thing... All said I was not pregnant - after 4 months I began to bleed - purple, clotted and painful - - - they told me I was having a miscarriage... Hopefully that is not that case for you, but it could be possible you began a pregnancy and something just wasn't right so you aren't showing that you are pregnant anymore.

This same exact thing happened to me a couple of months ago only I was also experiencing "pregnancy symptoms." I went to the dctor and they would not even do a blood test. they said since it had been so long since my last period that a pee test would definately show if I was. I wasn't, by the way. I was told that it is normal to have an abnormal period once in a blue moon. You may want to go in just to make sure it is nothing serious though. Good luck. God Bless.

That happened with me with my third baby. When I went to the doctor's office I was almost pregnant. When you go to see your obgyn, ask for a blood test and that will determine for sure if you are pregnant or not. Good Luck!!

a tubal pregnancy (ectopic pregnancy) may turn up negative test results and could be dangerous. it happened to a friend of mine. all the home tests she did turned out negative, and her fallopian tube burst. the doctor should do a blood test which is way more accurate than a urine test, and also an ultrasound.

I went through that exact thing about 11 months ago, and my second daughter is now 2 months old. After the 4th negative pregnancy test, my husband told me I obviously wasn't pregnant and I should stop spending our money on pregnancy tests. But just like you, it had been nearly 2 full months since my last period, and I just knew something wasn't the same. I waited another week, and bought another pack of 2 tests. Finally, when I took that sixth test it was positive. I didn't know whether to be happy because I knew it all along and my feelings were finally justified, or to be scared because my first daughter was only 8.5 months old. Needless to say, they are the best two children one could hope for, and I love that they are so close in age. Home pregnancy tests aren't always the most reliable tests. If you feel that you could be pregnant, I recomend going to see your doctor. If they could do a more official test (perhaps a blood test if they do those anymore), then at least you'll know one way or another!!

hi.
many things can effect ur period, or lack of. anything from stress to more/less activity, weight gain/loss, birth control, and many many more...all of which im sure ur well aware of. however to be on the safe side you should go in to the doctor and ask for a blood test. if that still comes out negative and you rule everything else out, you and your doctor can go over a few more serious reasons.
good luck and God bless

I agree with the others. Your only way of knowing is to visit a doctor. Then you can find out if you period is abnormal or taking a blood test which is the most accurate. Good Luck!
