Needing Some Support

Does anyone know of any Infertility Support Groups out there or on-line forums to go to for support? We have had 4 failed IUI's and we're getting ready for our first IVF. My dear husband is very supportive and always tries to say the right things, but I really would like to talk with some ladies that have already gone through this or are in the struggle right now as well and truly understand what I'M going through right now. While I know he is going through the struggle right along with me, I need to talk with people that ACTUALLY understand how hard this is on us. Does that make sense?? I'm just feeling pretty low right now.

What can I do next?

I haven't read the other responses, so I apologize if this is redundant... but www.fertilityfriend.com was a website I used when we were trying to get pregnant a 2nd time. We did IUI 2x and I found other moms who had done IUI/IVF/ICSI and everything, and I found not only a wonderful support group but also very dear friends that I still keep in touch with.
Best of luck. Hang in there. It will happen for you!!

The IVF Connections boards were a life saver for me when my husband and I were going through our IVF cycle. There are boards by cycle month, by area, by doctor, by diagnosis, etc. Here's a link to the TX board:

http://www.ivfconnections.net/board/forumdisplay.php?f=53

I corresponded with women that were cycling with my doctor at the same time. It was so nice to have somebody in the same boat!

I know how difficult this process can be, but don't give up. Your eventual success is well worth the effort and wait!

Feel free to PM me if you ever just need somebody to talk to.

Hi K.-

I don't know of any support groups but I just wanted to say hang in there! I went through infertility treatments for over three years before becoming pregnant with my son. It was a VERY difficult time and I had my "low moments" as well. I use to get so mad when people would make silly suggestions or tell me not to think about it and it would just happen on it's own. It's smart of you to look for support because it is very hard for people who have not been through it to understand. Good luck with everything and hang in there!

Regards,
K.

Don't go through this alone, let us help you carry this burden.

There are online groups on I-Village and from resolve.org which are both good resources.
I DO know what you are going through though and hope to provide some encouragement. We went through 3 years of infertility treatments including 6 IUI's, surgery and finally IVF which gave us our beautiful, healthy son on the first try. I think I had a little different perspective because although it was really difficult to watch all of those around me having their children easily (7 of our best friends and 2 of my siblings had children while we were trying unsuccessfully!), I tried to focus on the positive things. I look back and feel like I was so blessed to go through IVF which may sound strange to some. But, I got to see our son from the time he was an embyro through 10 different ultrasounds including a 4D ultrasound before we met him. Most Moms only get 1 ultrasound and don't really see how intricately God is forming your baby inside of you. It brought my husband and I closer as he became quite a good little nurse giving shots! I also take NOTHING for granted with our son and am so grateful for every moment. I think although every mom on this board treasures and loves her children, I have a special gratefulness and appreciation because we fought so very hard for him. The money, the stress of going through IVF is small stuff in the scheme of life. Don't worry about any of that, just focus on the fact that you are going to be priviliged to see life being created and formed that very few other mommies get to see. I hope IVF works for you and that you look back with fond memories on it like I do. PS: We used Dr Putman at Baylor and I think he is the BEST doctor you could ever hope for.
Best of luck!!!

K.,

I don't know of any support groups. But... I'll bet they exist. Try to google Infertility support groups. I would love to talk to you and be support for you. I know first hand what you are going through. I went through three IVF w/ICSI procedures, and one Embryo transfer. The first IVF failed, the Embryo transfer failed, and we decided to go through it one more time with the otimism of the our Doctor. We finally got pregnant after 15 years of no birth control. We had a beautiful little girl June 01'. When my little Kelleigh was nearing 1 year old, we decided to jump right in to try for another baby. I got pregnant first try and delivered twin sons Feb.03(Steven & Andrew). I never lost faith that I was meant to be a Mother. I just knew it would happen. When the blessing finally came into our lives it happened boom, boom, boom! 3 babies in 20 months. 0-3 children. I still get goose bumps! All due to IVF and prayer. I feel like I have the knowledge equal to a Masters on this subject. I may be a little rusty with all the Motherly tasks that have taken over my brain. But.. I would be happy to pull out my research, results, statistics, and records if you have questions. I would be happy to brush up on my knowledge. You can call me or e-mail if that is more comfortable. ###-###-#### or ____@____.com

Hi, K.-
I wish I would have found an appropriate support group for when I was going thru what you are going thru. It took my husband and I 7 years, YES, 7 years to achieve a successful pregnancy. We started trying when my daughter turned 3 and we never would have thought we would need so much help! I am now a VERY proud mommy to my about-to-be 12 year old daughter and twin boys that turned 2! My heart goes out to you more than you could ever know. Feel free to e-mail me directly at ____@____.com (noone could imagine what I went thru, but I have been in your shoes, girlie!)
