My husbands work has horibble insurance, making it impossible for me to get insurance through his work. Does anyone know of good insurance, where the rates aren't terrible?? I am desperate..

J.,

I live in Alachua county and there is something called Choices Health Services. I think it may be based on income though. There is a website, www.acchoices.com.

Thanks, A.

I have Blue Cross and Blue sheild of Florida and they have been very good. The only problem that I find is that they don't cover Florida hospital and I want to deliver my next child at Florida hospital Celebration Health. The next best for price that I have been looking at is United Health Care.
Good Luck

I did Blue Cross Blue Shield also, it cost me about $250/mon for me and baby (without maternity benefits, which is extra). I did it all online and they sent me the paperwork to sign.

I just priced Blue Cross Blue Shield and it was much cheaper than what we were getting through my husbands work, less than 1/2 the cost. The website is www.bcbsfl.com.

Hi J.,

Try going to Aetnas website, they have really reasonable rates, family and single. I'm with blue cross right now but am looking to change soon. Blue cross is about $50 per week. Where are you located, I could give you the contact info.

I have golden rule and pay only $123/month. It covers major medical (not maternity), but is great to have in case something major happnes...you pay your decuctible and they pay 100% after that.

I have MidWest national as my health insurance. For myself and baby it costs $210, I have some prior health issues to include ovarian cysts and nasal complications; for my boyfriend/hubby it's $140, he's a heavy smoker with no prior health issues. This insurance also includes the Alliance for Affordable Services, they offer discounts and benefits for all sorts of things, from movie tickets to car rentals. The copays are low and the coverage is great! With the program also comes a dental discount program that cuts dental bills into smitherines! My hunny had two impacted, rotted teeth removed as well as minor surgery for less then $300!!! If this intersts you please call my agent, Kim Wilson, at ###-###-####. She is SO sweet and VERY helpful and she'll explain everything for you!

It depends on your income. My work has terrible insurance, and my husband's is too much to add a dependent. The first year my daughter had Florida Kidcare-paid for by the state because we didn't make much money. Now though,we don't qualify. But there is also your local health department. As far as independent insurance plans, I have not tried them-too expensive.
