Need Weight Loss Ideas...

...I am a SAHM who can't remain motivated to drop about 20lbs. I've tried weight watchers, going to the gym, etc but the scale won't budge. For example- I did weight watchers online with the points program for 3 months. I lost a total of 4 pounds. I get so discouraged that I just give up. I need a boost and a refresher- any ideas?

Try eating less meat and dairy several times a week and avoid all "white" carbs. Vegetables are high in fiber and fill you up. They also are low calorie. Meats and dairy are high fat/calorie and almost no fiber to make you feel full.

Hey there. Don't get discouraged. Weight loss that comes off slowly will stay off unlike fad diets out there that makes you drop everything quickly. Have you tried going to the weight watcher meetings? That is what I am doing. That gives motivation. People give advice, hear success stories, tips, etc...Having a friend also helps alot too. I have been going with my sister-in-law to the meetings. Here is what I do. I am good during the week and on fridays I reward myself. Knowing friday is coming up is like an incentive or reward coming. And that way you don't feel deprived. There is also a core plan if you don't want to count points. Exercise is also a must. Every morning I wake up and work out. If you can't in the morning, work out at night. You owe it to yourself. I change up my workouts so I don't hit a plateau but believe me I have been there. Good luck with everything.

Hi K.,
First let me say I understand your frustration. When I got pregnant with my son I gained 45 pounds!! I know!! WHOA!! After I had him the first thing I did was buy a treadmill and watch what I ate. I am glad to say that after 3 months of complete dedication I dropped 40 pounds!! I ran or walked 20 minutes a day, lifted weights...cut out bread, soda, chips, snacks.. and ate only low-fat foods, veggies and fruit and high protein meats...I also cut my normal portions in half. I found that if I drank a glass a water or Wu long tea before I ate (which I still drink and love) I get fuller faster and don't eat as much. I know it is hard...I still have 5 more pounds to go to be back to 125...but I know I will do it, and I know you will too. I am big into fitness and health..I teach kickboxing 2 nights a week and I love me new lifestyle. I have more energy and feel so much better!!!

Hi K., I am trying to lose the baby weight from my 1 year old. I recently got a book recommended by Oprah called 'You on a diet' by Dr. Oz. He tells you what foods to avoid and what to eat at fast food restuarants and what to replace the current foods you are eating with. I have lost about 3 inches in my waste in about a week and a half. He also says that the total number is not as important as your waste size. If your waste size is greater than 32 inches for female, you are overweight. You basically change your eating habits and it will be really good for your children too.

Hi K.! I don't know if you've heard of the Reverse Diet but I'm currently trying it. So far I've lost 6 pounds over the weekend. I'm pretty sure it's water weight but I'm continuing with it to see how much I lose. I've enjoyed it so far and if you're interested you can buy the book or let me know and I'll email you the info I have. I caught her on the news back before her book and she gave alot of info free and I saved it. She told what she does, her grocery list and some of her recipes. Just let me know. Hope this helps.

I agree with Tennille. I never could follow a diet. When I need to lose some pounds I try to change one thing at a time. For instance, no eating between dinner and bedtime. Or cutting out one not so good thing I've been accustomed to eating. Also try to fit in a walk or a run whenever I can. Don't know if you ever run or would consider taking it up, but signing up for a 5K on a weekend sometime in the future is a great motivator to getting yourself in shape to be able to run or walk it.

YA gotta work out! You have to cut your calories... I gained 87 pounds with my pregnancy! I though I would roll over and die! I didn't even leave the house unless it was for the grocery store or the doctore for a year! I even went to my Dr for a script of Phentermine to loose weight. Yeah, I lost like 4 pounds in 3 months!!!
The only thing that I could suggest for you if you just don't want to work out hard is a drink called REDLINE. GNC and Vitamin Shoppe have it. PLEASE BE CAREFUL!!! This is sooooo strong. I recommend you drink no more than 1 ounce per hour. It will curb your appetite, and give you energy. Drink that and do TAE BO...You will loose 5 pounds a month! Unfortunatley, there is no way that you can shed tons of weight quickly that is long term or safe. Just get up and get moving! You'll love yourself for it! Jenny Craig is great, but without working out...WHY?

Depending on how old your kids are, you can get them to get you going. With my 5 yr old and 3 yr old, I started making a morning routine of getting up, cranking up the stereo and dancing wildly with them for about 20 minutes. Believe me, they don't let you forget! If they are older, perhaps you can get them to go walking with you, or jogging. Don't let the numbers get you down, eat right, be active and have fun with your kids. The scale will take care of itself.

I belong to TOPS. There is no specific plan but it is all the support I need to make good choices. I lost nearly 60 lbs. I've put some back but need to get in gear to lose this baby weight.

Hi K.,

I to struggle with sticking to it. I need to lose the same amount. I try to start small and slowly. I can't just jump into a life altering program. Maybe just start with cutting out one fatting item for week and then adding to the cutting every few weeks. Also I try to set a goal like exercising for 30 minutes 3 times a week, instead of 5 times. This gives me 7 chances to achieve my goal. One thing that has really worked for me before was for every lunch and supper meal I ate this pattern: a salad, entree and a piece of fruit! If after all of that I needed more I would eat, but usually I wouldn't. This curbed my entree amounts and extra sugar. Just some ideas. Good luck.

I know I asked my doctor about prescribing me some diet pills because I had tried everything and like you nothing worked and I did loose motivation. He put me on Adipex. It works miracles. It cuts your appetite down to half of what you normally eat. With exercising at Curves and taking that I ate what I wanted to and lost 12-15 lbs in a months time.

I lost over 20 lbs in the past 6 months with a really good product line. I have before and after photos I took to prove it. I started out a size 12 and now wear a size 4. I was still able to eat out at restaurants pretty much every day while doing this. Feel free to contact me if you want to know more about it. It has worked great for me and many other people I know.
