Hi, I have a Volvo and would prefer not to take it to the dealer because of their high rates. Do you have any mechanics to recommend? I am in Plano.

What can I do next?

I have been using Plano Tire for over 20 years now. They are the MOST HONEST mechanics I know. They are at Hwy 75 and 15th street on the Northeast corner.

Hi,

Good question! I wish I knew an answer, but if you find a good one, would you share the name please? (My email is ____@____.com.) I moved in January and have been going to Irving for my service. Wish I'd thought to ask on Mamasource. You're smart! :-)

Best wishes!

E.

I have two suggestions -
1. Southwest Auto. (southwestauto.com) I believe they are the largest seller of used Volvos in TX and their service department is top notch. They can be a little pricey, but if you prefer a big shop this is the one to go with.

2. Grand Prix Imports - ###-###-####
They have been taking care of my family for over 25 years now. They do a great job, they're honest, timely, and very reasonable on price.

If you go to SW ask for Jimmy to service your car. If you go to Grand Prix, ask for Brad - he is the owner. Either way, please tell them K. Slaughter sent you.

I am sorry, but I do not have a place to recommend. I do want to say to stay away from Service King. I had my car in right before the summer. I was hit by an uninsured motorist, and had to have the whole passenger door and front panel replaced. Well it was a service that was only supposed to take a week. It ended up taking 3 weeks--when I went to go pick up my car they had replaced the parts with dented parts that were supposed to be brand new & were trying to give the car back to me that way. I made them redo it and it took another 2 weeks--5 weeks total---and just last week I took it in to my dealer for an oil change and because my speaker was not working in the passenger side and the VW mechanic told me that whoever worked on my car last (service king) broke my speaker, broke all the nuts and bolts that hold on the inside panel of the passenger door, and broke the lock on the window motor. My car was in for a week that time and now I am out more money and more time because of Service King. They are trying to deny that they did anything wrong and that somebody else must have messed it up. I hope this helps =)
