I will be having a b-day party for my soon-to-be 3 year old son in a few weeks. The party will be at a "jump-n-bounce" place and I want to give a unique party favor to our guests. Every year, I give out goodie bags filled with candy and dollar store trinkets, but I wanted to do something different this time. Anyone have any alternative ideas for party favors, preferably something that doesn't involve candy? The party is for boys and girls.
My son is 3 and at his 3 birthday parties- we have made a CD of music that we all have enjoyed. So it is fun for kids and tolerable for parents. They seem to go off well. Stickers are great! Maybe a pinky ball that bounces- you can find them at Party city for 99c or so.

I've given out cute bucket and shovels before - I'm from Baltimore as well and the Dollar General here has Cars and Spiderman, Winnie the Pooh and Princess. If you wanted to fill them a containter of bubbles would do the trick. The kids love them and the parents do too since they are almost always used.
Hi- once we got a cd of music at a party- every cute, my son loved it and still does. On two party occasion, I tie dyed t shirts for all the kids. Which, if you give them out when the kids get there- make AWESOME party pictures. If you have a GABRIEL BROTHERS store near you, you can usually pick up 100% cotton tees for like a dollar a piece and AC Moore carries fabric art supplies. Two colors, the soda ash and rubber bands(Staples) should run you $12-15. Even if you buy packs of undershirts at a Walmart- you could do the whole kit and kaboodle for $40 or so. The Dharma Trading Company has a website-google it-they are the holy grail of fabric arts and you can print out step by step instructions. Or easier- What about free ice cream or snowball certificates? The dollar store(and Ollies) has great books and workboooks for kids. Either way have fun, I too hate the trashy cheap candy bags!
My son has also gotten a gift of a bucket/shovel/sand mold. Probably from the dollar store which is inexpensive and a great idea! What we did this past year for my son's party was gave every kid a $5 Toys R Us gift card. When I added up about how much I was going to spend on "junk" for the gift bags it was like $4-5 per kid, so I figured this was like a "coupon" for the kids to apply to something they wanted.
I always prefer to get stuff that will either be used up and not sit around the house or stuff that my daughter will actually play with. Here are some ideas that I've either given that went over really well or that we've received and loved:
Crayons
Coloring book
Small book (they cost about $3.99) -- kids love to read and love to get new books!
Bubbles
Stickers (my daughter's favorite)
Matchbox cars for the boys
Barrettes or bows for the girls
