Looking for something new for my daughters 6th birthday party. I'm so sick of Libby Lu, Pump-it-Up, bowling, and Chuck E Cheese. I would really appreciate something for a bunch of kindergarten girls to do.

What can I do next?

My friend had her daughters party at the Great Wolf Lodge out by the racetrack in KS. They had a great time at the indoor waterpark and had a sleepover for one night. Mom brought snacks, sandwiches, some simple decorations, and the cake and just left it all in the room. They had a blast. She said it was easy and so much fun for everyone.

Try looking in some of the local kid's magazines that you can get by the entrance of walmart and other grocery stores. I've seen ads for some really cute little party venues that offer little girls dress up/princess parties. They supposedly have beautiful rooms where the girls can play dress up, pretend their princesses or grown ups and eat cake, etc. Or you could try doing something fun like that by yourself. Go to goodwill and get some old prom dresses and cut them off, Go to the dollar store and get hair bows, costume jewelry, etc. and let the girls go wild!

Birthday crafts are always fun, too! Check out OrientalTrading.com . They have cheap craft kits & dress up stuff on there, too!

Good Luck! If you need unique invitations, I create them from home... Check out www.heartstringsdesignsonline.com

K. I just celebrated my daughter's 6th birthday at Dale's Athletic Club, they have an indoor treehouse that is awesome! They do a craft with the kids, then do some fun activities, like a Diva Dance, a version of pin the tale on the donkey, the large parachute thing and then they get some free time after cake and presents. It's pretty affordable, indoors and the girls had a great time! It's located in Overland Park off of 87th and Neiman. You can also check out their website dalesathleticclub.com.

Good luck!

High-tea at one of the hotels on the plaza would be neat (the girls could all dress up), or have their hair/nails done at JCCC beauty school. It's affordable and the girls would have a blast!

Theatre of the Imagination does "High School Musical" Parties........costumes, music, production and DVD of the show all included. You could put out the red carpet and give out awards, serve popcorn, etc...

Go all out and rent a limo and drive around and be "movie stars" for a night. I did the limo after having a libby lu party last year and the girls LOVED it. We went through the McDonalds drive-thru and then drove to the plaza and back.

Let me know if you would like their contact info. Miles is the director of the Theatre. I believe the party is an 1 1/2 long and runs $200.

Even if you didn't use Theatre of the Imagination.......you could always use the theme. Go to Disney.com and search for High School Musical and they have party ideas on there also.

Feel free to contact me for more ideas.....(I kinda do "party planning" for all my friends and have a ton of ideas!)

Along with the tea party idea, there's a place in downtown Independence called Girlfriends: Let's Do Lunch. They have a website, if you type the name into google. Anyway, it's loads of fun for little girls, you could even invite the mom's too! They have a girly lunch and then they have a dress up room where you go in and put on all kinds of fancy things. It really is a lot of fun! I actually did it for the girls in my wedding, so like I said, it's fun for girls of all ages!

I recently went to my nieces birthday party at Fairy Tale Ballet in Overland Park. It was her 5th birthday. All the little girls just loved it. The ballet instructor reads a fairy tale to the group and then they act out the story using costumes and music. It was so great to watch. We went to the Overland Park location but I think they also have a Prairie Village location. www.afairytaleballet.com

Also try looking on line at the KCparent.com home page under party ideas. They give a great list of vendors and ideas all around the city for parties.

Good Luck.

Why not have a fancy tea party and chocolate fountain with fruit and cookies to dip. My daughter and her little friends LOVE these parties! All the girls wear their cutest hats and gloves and dress up in their best dresses. They make little nosegays of silk flowers in paper doilies and ribbon to hang on the back of their chairs. It's fun to watch them use their best table manners and try the scones, shortbread, tea with cream and sausages in puff pastry.

Invite a group of local high school girls to come to your house and make the girls up, or, if you know cheerleaders, have a cheer party. You can pay each girl to help out and the cost will be way less, but excitement as high as a Libby Lu.

the other thing you could do is have a costume party and have kids come dressed up as their favorite _______ character, or do it in theme!

While I am not in KC YET, I wanted to offer an idea that people have done here in NC. We have a local pottery store that does birthday parties. The kids spend the birthday party time painting an item. I hope they have something like that up there because it seems like a cute thing for little girls to do at that age. In the future it would be a great keepsake for the parents to have.
