Need Tree Arborist for Possible Sick Tree

We had a tree in our backyard just fall over while it was raining. We're assuming the tree was sick and the weight of the wet leaves just took the tree over. Now, we're worried that another tree in our backyard might be sick too because there is black, crusty stuff along the base of the tree. Does anyone know of someone we can hire to look at our back yard trees to determine if they are healthy and if we need to do something to keep them healthy? We're looking for someone honest and affordable. Thanks!

There are two companies I can recommend...Brown's Tree Service and Wauson Tree Service (this one offers mailer coupon for $25 off a job that is $100+).

They are both certified arborists.

Keith Bradley of Condren Tree Service in Plano is great. We have done business with them for 7 yrs for our heavily wooded lot and never been disappointed. They do a great job. It is not cheap keeping your trees healthy but it is worth it. The number is ###-###-####. We had issues with woodpeckers and now a porcupine and he told us over the phone to coat the area with hot pepper sauce. He knows what he is talking about.

Rohde's Nursery in Garland.

Greg Rohde owns this nursery in Garland but they service all over the place. You can check out their website and give them a call. They are a totally organic nursery. We've used their services for years. Tell them C. Sanchez recommended you.

What kind of trees do you have? With the rain that we have had some trees have extrememly shallow root systems. Just the wet soil could make you lose a tree, by falling over that is. Are these really large shade trees?

You can go up to Lowes and in the chemical section for lawn and garden they have a book that sits out. It contains all sorts of diseases that affect our plant life including trees! This book will help you find the treatment that you need to treat your trees.

Good luck!

We have used Big Bird Tree service more than once, and got their info on a referral. They are great! They are very nice people and worked out a price we could afford.
