I think the best hair stylist in the area is Luigi at Watergate Salon. I have been with him for 15 years--even commuted down here from NYC for a year to have him do my hair. He is expensive, but I have never not loved what he does and he listens to what you want.

Nuri Yurt, Owner, TOKA Salon, Georgetown.

He he also has a salon in NYC now so gone part of the week...when you book tell him L. Schaefer sent you. He also happens to be the stylist to Laura Bush as in several past presidential wives...remember when she got a new and improved look years ago?...that was him.

he does excellent cuts...his assistants and other stylists do color for him and also do a great job.

Joe Awad - located in Arlington, va. He won all these People's Choice awards for the area and has great reviews. I have been going to him for a couple of years now and LOVE my hair. I am someone who needs to have a stylist to whom I can just say "Fix It" and they make it great. http://www.joestyle1.com/

Try Beverly Johnson at Ernst and Company on Commerce.

She listens and then does what you want. She is excellent with color. They are on Commerce St in Springfield.

Also if you like the more trendy, try Jon/David further on Commerce St

I also sell Mary Kay if you would like to continue to get pampered.

Rachel Williams at Matisse Salon over on Franconia Road in Alexandria is wonderful. I wouldn't trust my hair or highlights to anyone else. I always get compliments - I just need to keep up with it myself! She usually is booked far in advance but there may be drop out openings if you need something sooner. BTW, it's my understanding that Matisse is a full service salon - facials, mani/pedi...

I see henry at Noufal's Salon in Landmark Mall (395 and Duke Street). Don't be put off by the age and current state of the mall (very little traffic), as Henry is fabulous and a well kept secret. The number is ###-###-####.
