Need to Redo/repair Shower!!

We desperately need to completely redo our shower in the master bath. I can see that water is leaking behind the tile and rotting the wood around the shower. Tiles are beginning to look like they might fall off any day now! Does anyone have a good, reputable shower repair/redo company that they can recommend? We live in Frisco and any information would be greatly appreciated!!

What can I do next?

First, stop using that shower now. Second, go to Amy's list or check your HOA website for plumbing companies. Good luck with this, it sounds like a nightmare. Home depot or Lowes does these kind of jobs.

I would call your homeowners insurance company first. This sound like it might be a "shower pan" leak and is traditionally covered by your homeowners policy. They are also a good source for "reliable" contractors.

First you should call your insurance agent and discuss whether you should file a claim. It sounds like you may have a shower pan leak. In the olden days, insurance would generally cover all the damage caused by a shower pan leak - not the cost of replacing the pan, but at least the cost of replacing the rotted wood, the carpet, some of the tile, etc. Now with all the changes to coverage that have been coming in the aftermath of mold cases etc. I'm now sure whether your policy would cover damage caused by a leaking shower pan - but your agent should be able to answer that question. You will need a plumber to replace the shower pan and a tile man/carpenter for the other repairs. I don't know if these guys would go all the way to Frisco, but my plumber is Renfro Plumbing at ###-###-#### and my tile/carpenter/painter guy is Rudy Riddle at ###-###-####

Definitely call your insurance agent. We had the same problem and insurance covered it. You may have that coverage and not remember. I certainly didn't. Got a great new shower out of it.
