Hi Ladies,

I'm needing some direction to my question and don't know where to go. I currently have a Mirena IUD and it's almost been 5 years so it's close to the time to have it removed and I am needing another put it for low cost or free. I need to have one since I have medical conditions. I live in Forney(Kaufman Texas) and I need to find a place that will take out the current one and put in a new one for low cost or free. We support 4 children so funds are so limited. I am not sure if a place even exsist to do this but I figured I would ask anyway. Thanks for the help in advance! :)

Added: I thought exactly of you and did and I gave Planned Parenthood a call a couple of days ago and I contacted the one in Mesquite off of Town East and the lady said they charge FULL price for mirena which she said would cost me $700. I asked."Do you go by income?" and she said no sooorrrry". She was extrememly rude. They do don't exen implant them at the Terrell Planned Parenthood. Do any of you know of a Planned Parenthood that would be good to call that goes by your income. Thanks again!

So What Happened?

Sorry for the late delay on whats going on with my situation. So I called a Parenthood off of Gus Thomason and they got me qualified for a free Mirena! I was approved for that free womens health care. I am going to get it replaced next week. Thank you for all of your responses and suggestions! If it wasn't for many of you then I wouldnt have known what to do. I am grateful!!!

Check out your closest Planned Parenthood. That is where I went for a long time when I didn't have health insurance. Now that I am financially secure, I donate to Planned Parenthood regularly so women like you have the opportunity to get the care you need! Take care!

Most name brand medications have patient assistance programs to assist with drug costs for patients who qualify. If you google Mirena patient assistance program www.patientassistance.com/profile/archfoundation it brings up the ARCH foundation which is funded by the manufacturer. Check to see if you qualify.

Not sure if you are still interested. I had one ordered for me and had to have an emergency hysterectomy instead. Unfortunately the pharmacy wont take it back. It is still in the factory box and wrapped, never been opened. If you are interested I can ship it to you. Let me know.

I just read an article on yahoo yesterday about this. The arguement was the government giving out free birth control through planned parenthood or something but not just pills they were talking about IUD's-alternative birth control since some people can't do the pills. There is a big arguement about it but I would certainly check into your local planned parenthood or perhaps your local health department or something to see if that is even an option there or if they know of anyone....it would be a start and better than getting pregnant right?

Planned Parenthood! If you cannot afford even their sliding scale fees, they will work out a payment plan for you.

Good luck!

I actually got mine at the planned parrenthood on Towneast, at the time, i qualified for the Texas womans health insurance, and got it for free. you can look into that, its not medicaid, they only cover 1 papsmear a year and birthcontrol.
