Some of these are free... Some are über pricey. Some take an hour, some an afternoon, others all day. :)

- Tubing in Snoqualmie Pass (& snowmen, snowball fights, etc.). The pass is a 1.5 hour drive out of the city. http://www.summitatsnoqualmie.com/Activities/Tubing
((Rental clothes are available here if you don't have snow clothes http://rentsnowclothes.com/pricing/ ))

- Ride a Ferry

--- Seattle Science Center & 180 dome IMAX theatre

* the 5 long dashed of the above are part of the Seattle Center / in walking distance to each other

- SANCA (circus classes)

- Seattle Aquarium

- Woodland Park Zoo & Zoomazium (indoor playground... The zoo is okay, not spectacular, but fun & the Zoomazium is a good place for 8 & under to run around).

Darn that Riley...fellow seattle-ite!
You didn't say when you were coming over, so I am just going to add a thing or two to do when it's sunny and warm here. (that's July and August)

Alki Beach is lovely. You can roller blade, collect shells, dig in actual sand (which for us is unusual...most of our beaches (read, Lakes) are full of pebbles.)
Jetty Island - which is north of Seattle in Everett. My kids love to go there and you can make it an all day event. Also, not open until mid summer! http://www.ci.everett.wa.us/default.aspx?ID=2055
Any of our festivals. Folk Life, Bite of Seattle, and another one that I can't remember! Very busy, but fun!
Have a great time.

We went in August and had a great time.

There is a butterfly museum, blown glass exhibit, space needle, Market Place - there is a macaroni and cheese place at mkt, watched them toss fish at mkt, we drove to Mount Rainier and rode a train, we drove into Port Townsend and went whale watching. People watched in the window at Seattle's Best, they have a great library, visited a beautiful garden Japanese garden in East Seattle.

The arboretum is where the Japanese garden is. The museum of flight is fun! Lincoln park in west Seattle is amazing and huge, and a few miles from Alki beach. Love the fish and chips and spud on Alki. I like the ferry from Edmonds to Kingston best, port Townsend is a short drive from there. There's a to die for crepes place in downtown Kingston! The others listed are must sees: pike place market, space needle/Seattle center/EMP, waterfront. You'll love it here!
