Hey ladies! I'm moving to the Boise area after living in Nevada for 4 years and have to find new doctors (which I always hate!) I need an OBGYN (9 weeks preggo) a family doctor(if they take babies, that's always a plus!) for my hubby and I and a pediatrician for my daughter. Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

We love our doctors! My OB/GYN is Dr. Davis at The Women"s Clinic, it is part of St. Luke's downtown. My husband sees Dr. Tolman at The Family Practice Physicians on Boise Ave. in S.E. Boise. Our pediatrician is Dr. Noreen Womack. She's in St. Al's Pediatrics. We are very picky and I can honestly say that we would recommend any of the Dr.'s at these offices! Welcome to Boise!

Hi
My husband and I moved up from Las Vegas almost three years ago. You will love the summers up here.lol

I had a little boy about a year after we got here, but that obgyn has moved and I have since found a great one as we are trying for child number two. Her name is Susan Rice, she delivers at St.Luke's hospital which is downtown.

My pediatrician got moved here a little after we did, and he is wonderful too. We can get an appointment when we need to and don't have to wait forever. I can ask questions and he gives answers I can understand and not feel silly for asking. He is located in the St.Al's hospital which is about 15 minutes away from St.Luke's.

Good luck on your move.

I'm 13 weeks pregnant and new to the Boise area, too. I suppose it would help to know what part of Treasure Valley you are moving to. We lived in Boise for a while, but moved to Meridian (it's full of families! In Boise, our church didn't have any kids my boys' ages. Here in Meridian, there are about 12 of each age!)
I absolutely LOVE my doctor. I did some research and asked around here on MommaSource and am very happy with my decision. He's very kind and the office is really nice. His name is Dr. Scott Armstrong. At my first appointment, a nurse sat down with me and asked me all about myself (medical history, etc) and then the doctor sat down with me, too. It was nice, except I was in a hurry! When i told them I had to pick up my kids from the babysitter in 1/2 an hour, they changed their tune and rushed me right through. It was great.
They have a nice website, too: http://www.obgynidaho.com/
The office I go to is at Eagle Road and Franklin Road. It's very close to the freeway, and next to St. Lukes Meridian hospital. Actually, when I was looking for a doctor, I chose the hospital first. They have nice websites with virtual tours of the maternity ward.

For a pediatrician, we actually drive to Boise. We chose that back when we lived in Boise. It's right next to St. Alphonsus hospital. We LOVE our doctor, Joseph Keihl. I kid you not, he's called me about 4 times to follow up on questions I had. For example, I suspected that my boys are gifted, and asked if he knew of any preschool resources available to me in the area. He looked online and made phone calls, then called me back to tell me what he'd found out! I was pleasantly shocked! I've never had a doctor do that before. When he walks in the room, he acts like he saw us just yesterday. He calls the kids by their name and refers to things we talked about at our last visit. He's amazing. He also moved to the area right before we did, so he doesn't have a TON of patients yet. I called the day before and got an appointment with him. It was great!

I really couldn't recommend either of my doctors more! But I can't really help you with a doctor for your husband. My husband hates going to the doctor! And right now, my OB is my primary physician. I'll have to find another doctor later.

Hi Kara,

You're so wise to put out "feelers" ahead of time! I don't know if you are open to the idea of a midwife, but we really appreciate our team of midwives at The Baby Place in Meridian. For doctors, I'd recommend Dr. David Butuk at Meridian Family Medicine. He's a GP but sees LOTS of babies, and we've been very pleased with his care of our nearly two-year-old from infancy.

I absolutely love my OBGYN, his name is Dr. Archibald and he is with The Women's Clinic which is affiliated with ST. Lukes hospital. I highly recommend him, but really all of the Dr.'s there seem to be great. I'm 7mo preggo right now and I actually look forward to seeing the Dr. every time I go in. He is very personable and understanding of all his patients needs. My last baby was born on Mother's Day a few years ago and he came in to deliver even though he wasn't scheduled to work that day. He tries his best to be there for you whenever you need him. Good Luck!

What area are you moving to? I have some recommendations in the south Meridian area, but if you are moving downtown, you may not want to drive across town.
