We have an opening that is 77" wide. It is my office & the game room combined so we need a gate to keep the little kids out. I am looking for the best value for my money...don't want to cheap out if the gate is just going to break. I have two monkeys so it needs to be sturdy. However, I don't want to spend a fortune either! I'm looking for suggestions on which gate to buy & where to buy it! Thanks so much!

What can I do next?

check dog gates at web sites such as drsfosterandsmith.com, or organizing solution sites, plough and hearth, I am bad at remembering sites but I had a similiar problem, only I needed to keep my french bulldog in the kitch when no one was home, good luck!

We used a long piece of plywood (covered with flannel or fleece to avoid splinters) to gate off an area that large. You just have to have something heavy at each end to hold it in place. It's no easily movable, but if you don't mind stepping over, it gets to job done and is cheap.

I love my hands-free gate, made by First Years. I bought it at Walmart. You will need to buy a couple of extensions to get it to fit a doorway that wide, but I still think you'll be surprised how reasonable the price is. My son knows how to open it, but is not physically strong enough or heavy enough to do it, which is great, and I can carry him and my groceries through the door without needing a spare hand to open the gate.
