Hi A.,

Take a look at the Baby Trend Sit-N-Stand Plus Double Stroller. I saw it online at Walmart for about $160. It got good reviews on their website. I am also looking for a double stroller, but my boys are 17 months and 1 month.

Good luck!

They have a sit and stand stroller that is also a double stroller. We just borrowed a sit and stand to go to Disneyland and it was absolutely wonderful! I am going to go buy one myself. We did not give our son a choice about sitting or standing on the back platform. He loved the freedom of being able to chose between sitting or standing. He was only allowed off when we got to each ride.

I found the traditional double strollers hard to push with my 35 lb four year old in it. I have used a Graco, Safety First and Eddie Bauer double stroller and all three were the same. With him in the back of the sit and stand it distributed the weight more equally between the two kids. When he wanted to nap we just had a blanket that he could lay his head on against the handles in the back or we put him in the front.

Well, I hope this helps. I know you said you didn't think a sit and stand would work, but with a four year old this might be your best option. I am going to look into the sit and stand that is the double stroller with the back platform as well, so when we have our third we can all ride comfortably. Good luck in your search.

I'd check into the sit stand ones in consumer reports. Iwas considering one when a store owner said they did not carry them because they didn't consider them safe and also had a difficult time with the manufacturers with "send backs" and defects . We have a 3 year old and a 18 month old in a double stroller. It works fine even if our 3 year old wants to walk. Its great for storage when she wants to walk. It also gives them both a choice of who wants to sit in the front or back. Good luck.

If you are looking for a great deal in your area you might check out www.craigslist.org it's a hit and miss if you are really specific but I know I am able to find what I need on there. Also you might check out consumerreports.org and do a search for strollers. They can tell you what's safe and what each stroller company has to offer. Good luck

Hi A.,
I don't have a double stroller, I am actually looking for a sit and stand.
Anyways, what I found really helpful is going to Baby's r us and trying them out. That way you can find the perfect one. If they are too expensive there, you can write down the brand and model and look on craigslist or ebay. Amazon also has great deals sometimes.
Good luck and happy hunting!

I have a Graco double stroller for my 4 year old (48 lbs), and my 21 mo old (26 lbs). It works great - each child can have a tray and a canopy. I can fit the diaper bag underneath, and a drink for me on top (along with keys or the garage door opener). It also has the 5 point harness. The back seat only has an up and down position, though. My daughter likes to get in and out on her own - depending on if she wants to walk or ride.
Good luck!!

Your son is old enough to not be in a stroller. Sorry but at almost 5 I would think the idea would not sit well with him anyways! He is old enough to learn to stay with you, walking is good for him. I would think about shortening your trips in the stroller before buying something new. He is at a weight that bypasses almost all double strollers too. Why not have a bike for your son to ride along with the stroller or have a wagon and take turns pulling your youngest?

We have the Combi TwinSport and love it! It always fits through doors, even in the bathroom, except in very old buildings that are not up to code. I totally get needing the stroller. Our 4 year old loves it! I don't know how we're going to do it with a third. I guess take turns. The stroller is about 250 at Babys 'R Us, so you might check out a used one, but the model we have is less than a year old. They just redid the whole line. I don't know if the older ones work as well. An added plus is you can even steer it with one hand. The down side to my model is no cup holders. If you're willing to spend a little more, or can find a used one, they do have fancier models with all the extras. I definitely don't like the Jeep stroller. I had it recommended to me and borrowed one. It is hard to steer in comparison, as are the front, back ones. Also, the Jeep doesn't fit through as many doors, and not into bathrooms. Have fun shopping! Make sure you're really happy with your choice. He lost a ton of money selling one we didn't like.

I have three kids, and my two little ones are only 14 months apart. I tried the tandem when I first had my third baby, this was nice because the older could sit in front while the back seat could hold the infant carrier, I found it bulky and hard to get in and out of the SUV, so I tried a side by side that folded very small, this one said that it would hold upto 90 pounds. But with the two boys in it ( this was when they were 1 & 2) and the weight was only at 65 pounds I found it hard to push and steer. This past summer when we went to Disneyland I bought a sit and stand ( the boys were 3 & 2) was and is the best stroller I have found dor the two of them. This gives the older one a place to rest and the freedom to walk when he wants. I love it. I would sugest with the age gap that you are working with to try one of these sit and stands. I bought it and Babys R Us for under 175.00, I can;t recall the exact price but I know it wasn't over 200.00. Good luck, and they also fold up small and are lite. I folded it up and took it on the monorail.
