We just moved to Seminole last year and still getting to know the area. I would really appreciate some ideas where to have my son's birthday...he turns 6 yrs old the beginning of October and just started kindergarten. I would like to have a total of about 10 kids ( who will mostly be kindergarten age)somewhere fun but not too expensive in the Seminole/Largo/St. Pete area. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks very much!

So What Happened?

Thank you so much for all of your responses and great suggestions. After much deliberation and calling around, my son really wants to have the party at our home and it will be an Indiana Jones pool party. I will definitely keep all of your recommendations in mind for the future.

Thanks again for taking the time to help out!!

Take Care,
J.

If you want to go outside, Largo Central Park is great. They have a fenced in very large playground, pavillions you can reserve, and a large beautiful field for playing games. They also have a kids train that is open once a month and I have seen birthday parties only riding it. There are also other parks as well all over the area where you are looking.

You could have it at the parks, This way you could do a pinata, and play games and make or buy something for the kids to eat and it is very inexpensive.

J., I know that the Largo central park does train rides on the first weekend of every month. The kids would enjoy that. Also, the Largo Highland park has a small water park with slides etc. that can be "rented" out for parties as well. You can call the park district for more info. Good luck

You could have the party at baypines veteran park, they have shelters and tanks (my son loved that playground with the tanks) playground area there is plenty of room to run and play games. you can call the veterans park and reserve a shelter, I believe shelter 1-3 are close to the playground and restrooms, people have also had one of those blow up jumping ( cant think of the correct name at this time. Also chuck e cheese on 58st and 9 ave north in st.pete. Hope this helps. B. F

Alot of the kids have parties at Seminole Lanes. We have been to at least 5 parties there since Kindergarten and my son is now in 2nd grade. They can put up bumpers for the lanes.

Other people go to the area parks... BUT, for future reference... The parks around here are first come first serve... Unless you make a reservation a YEAR in advance. BUT IT IS FREE!

Boca Ciega Millinium Park is NICE and requires less of a reservation time. I would try them now. Just be flexible and you can get the shelter near the playground.

J.: We have used Walsingham Park shelters for a fun outdoor party site and it is free. You can call the park (number is on the internet under Pinellas County Parks) and reserve a whole or half shelter that has picnic tables and a BBQ pit. One year we brought a rented bouncy house and generator (there are no plug ins) to the park and another year we had an "old fashioned game" theme that included tug of war, sack races, volleyball, red light green light. The kids had a blast and I used cheap dollar store items as prizes for the games.

J.,
We just had my daughter's birthday party at the beach. Beginning of October would be nice weather for a beach party, not too hot!! We did bring a tent to set up the food under. We kept it very simple and inexpensive. I made fruit skewers and we had cake, and of course drinks. My husband roped off an area where we dug in the sand and hid a bunch of dollar store items. Then each child received a bucket and shovel and they all got to dig to find buried treasure. They are STILL talking about it!! They loved it. The bucket & shovel became their party favor, along with the treasures they found. It was one of her best parties so far. My daughter is four, but we had kids there from 15 months to eight years old, and they all had a blast. Hope this helps!! :)
