I am in need of some ideas as to were I could hold a birthday party for my two boys who are 9 and 6. My home is not large enough for me to have it there and I do not belong to a church. We had a bad experiance with Chucky Cheeses and will not go back. Any ideas?

What can I do next?

I don't know where you live but I would suggest a swim party at an indoor pool or aquatic center, or a bowling party.

Skating Rinks are good, some bowling alleys arrange parties for children too. If you aren't into sports you can always talk to places like Pizza King, McDonald's, Pizza Hut does them too. I don't know where you live but the Royal Theater in Danville does Birthday parties for children too.

what about a park and rec center gym? or community room of a fire station or something if you live in a small community. The pool parties are always a hit you might even be able to rent the local high school's pool.

How about a bowling party?
It is relatively inexpensive. No games to plan!
The facility ususally does everything for you, except you bring in the cake! SO EASY!!
It is really a fun time for your age groups.
I am planning on for my daughter, who will be 6 in February.
And this is the second time we have done this.
Good luck!

Have you considered the Cincy Museum Center? They have TONS of options for you there.

Also, if your boys are into trains, you could check out Entertrainment Junction. My FIL took us there and I can see how my son will appreciate it more when he's 6-9 years old.

HTH!

Does your local school have a indoor pool that is open in the winter? You could hold a winter pool party. Alot of McDonalds have play areas and they do birthday parties.

Bananna's is another place in West Chester. Tri-Cty Mall just updated with an upper level gaming area above the restaurants. Monster mini golf. (Open year round in West Chester at the corner of I-75/Cin-Day Rd.). Next to Wal-Mart, Exit 21. (Phone: ###-###-####). Check your coupon magazines. I have one for golf and it does not expire until 2-28-09.

Have Fun.

Rec Center / Indoor Pool
Ice/Roller Skating Rink
Paint your own pottery place
Some hotels with indoor pools let you have pool parties
Joann Fabrics has parties

Usually the parties are about 2 hours long at these places... 1st hour for food and gifts, the 2nd for the activity.

Last Year, we had my daughter's birthday party at Pump-It-Up the kids loved it. My daughter has been to 4 birthday parties there over the last 3 months. One was a brother and sister's birthday party and it worked out very well. The kids always burn off energy!

This year, my daughter tuned 5 and we had Outback Ray come to her party we had it at Church in the Preschool Classroom because she invited 40 kids. Outback Ray is wonderful and comes to the party with a Snake, Baby Aligator, Bigger Aligator, White Dove, Big Fluffy Bunny, Hissing Cockroaches, Turtle, Red Fox, Chin Chilla's and more.
He has the birthday kids come up and help with the animals and feel them first and then lets the kids sitting in a circle touch them.

He is the best!!!!!
He will come to your house, Church, wherever.
(He has even driven all the way to Indiana for parties)
His website is www.outbackray.com on his card it says, Birthday Parties, Schools, Day Cares, Camps, Seniors, Holiday Shows, Any Occasion, Bring The Outback To You!
We pd $170.00 and he puts on an hour show it was well worth every Penny!!!!
He even came in the bad snow storm we had that day.

Hope this helps!

You did not mention your budget. Can you take a few friends to a matinee movie of the "newest film" when it first comes out? Ice skating and roller skating can be pricey for a crowd. Is there a town hall or civic center you can rent for the afternoon and have a party with games (indoors) to keep them busy? How about taking a few to a hockey game?

If this is close to you, Westerville Christian Church has a great indoor play area that they rent out cheap.

Do you have a friend or relative who lives in an apartment complex, or know someone who owns a condo? They usually have a club house that can be rented out.

We have the Wildwood Inn in Florence which has an indoor heated pool that they rent out for parties. Do you have a hotel in your area that might do that?

We also have a place that has giant indoor blow-ups, slides, etc., called Jump Zone. I don't know how close you are, but there is also one in Milford -###-###-####. www.jumpzoneparty.com

Paint ball or laser tag might be fun for them, but no idea how expensive it is. Some restaurants have larger separate dinning areas for parties. We also have a place called Sports of All Sorts - the kids can go there and practice batting, basket ball, soccer, etc., and they also have ski ball, arcade games, etc. I don't know if you have anything in Ohio like that or not.

Good luck!

My best friend always has a pool party at the YMCA. You might not even have to be a member. Just a thought. Happy b-day to your boys!

Some of the McDonald's have party rooms. I know because my sister used them years ago that the on off Ronald Regan HWY at the Kmart (Hunt Rd exit) shopping center. I would also say if you have a town hall or city hall they usually have rooms to rent but you must live there to rent. Also another place might be a VFW or Eagle's hall although they usually charge about $200 for maybe more. It's been years since I heard. Golden Corral, Panera Bread both have meeting rooms that are free technically to rent the only thing is everyone would need to order food unleaa you have them cater it. Same with McDonald's. Hope that helps. Check you library too, They may have a room you can rent.

Hi A.,
I don't know where you're located or for what time of the year you need this, but you can look into a park shelter, sometimes they're fully enclosed, although they usually don't have heat.
Other option may be a "My Gym" or a sports facility, sometimes they offer birthday parties packages.
Also, some of my friends have had their parties at their local recreation centers, with indoor pools; the rec. center will rent you a room for a couple of hours and the use of the pool for certain amount of time.
Last, your boys may be old enough for a bowling party, I believe some places do offer birthday packages.
Good luck!

Although you are not a member at a church, you could call area churches and see if any of them have rooms that they rent out. Frequently, they do. Also, you didn't say when the parties will be held. If it is when the weather is better, you might consider a park that has a shelter for rent.

You didn't even mention WHERE you live. Here, north of Indy we have some inflatable play places that are great spots. In addition, I KNOW that some of the local school pools allow you to have pool parties. Might want to check into that. Do you live in or any family members who live in an area that has a clubhouse?

Is there a YMCA near you? It's reasable cost and a ton of fun, especially for winter b-days. The kids can burn off steam in the gym and in the pool if there is one. We have a ton of YMCAs in the greater Toledo area, but I'm not sure which other areas have them. Have fun with whatever you do :)

My children attended a TRIPLE birthday party for kids in 1st - 5th grades at a rollerskating rink. It was fun and comfortable for all ages and levels.

Or rent a room at the community center and hire Jungle Terry or a magician/clown/entertainer for the large group.

How about an indoor swimming pool? Rent the whole thing. Of course parents can swim too.

Or an American Bouncers-like place. Fun-n-Stuff (laser tag).

Some of our favorite parties are at the bowling alley (affordable $ too).

What activities are your boys into? How about a karate demo? Or Batting cages?

I could go on forever....
