I'm a legal assistant for a family law attorney. She's located in Tampa and is very easy to work with. If you want her information just send me an email.

I really only depends if its being contested by the other person....you can do it yourself or with the help of legal aid for minimal costs, paperwork, but your spouse has to go along with it (or not be around to contest it) look up legal aid in your area and they could give you more exact advice on the subject......Godd Luck/Godspeed! Do it in court, it's quicker, easier and over right away.
If no children are involved it costs $75.00 and is a very simple form to fill out. I was in court about four minutes.
If children are involved and you both agree on everything the cost is a little more but still is over in a very short time. If you don't agree you for sure need to go to court and settle it. You don't need a lawyer if you both agree on everything.

If you both agree on things, you could even do the paperwork yourself. We The People helps too, for a small fee. If you disagree on things, then get a lawyer. I got a lawyer and never went before a judge.

Hi A. ~ You sound like a great mom!!! It costs more to go in front of a judge; however, please be sure to look after yourself and your girls. At that time of negotiation be clear on asking for much more then you care too right now ~ once negotiation is done it's done ~ papers are signed you can not go back and change. Ask for at least one of your little girls on your tax return...the younger one if not both...splitting them is what i did and took younger one on my tax return(will have right off longer)...ask for health insurance for all of you provided until you are RN unless you have it now? just keep in mind once they get a girlfriend or you do for that matter they are out of your life ~ what ever you agree on is all he will be responsible for period so be real clear what that is and if you need advice and help...a good mediator is another way to go without going in front of a judge.

i am not sure "which way to divorce would be cheaper". it depends on what is envolved. you might what to get a lawyer if theres kids, money, house etc. involved. if not, you can even pick up a "divorce kit", at any office store, and do it yourself. going through court is fairly cheap; (but i have always had a lawyer myself.) i unfortunately, i dont know anything about "getting divorced online", (sorry!) i hope i have helped you! good luck!

Hi A.,
I'm 52 yrs young and I used to work in the legal field years ago. It is my experience that unless you have all your 'needs' worked out, you should ALWAYS contact an attorney. Especially when there are children involved - NEVER - just assume that your husband will follow up through with a 'verbal' agreement between the two of you. Alot of times you can get help through the court system with a Court Appointed Mediator. Hope this info helps. good luck. P. G.

The procedure is relatively simple if all terms are settled and both are in agreement with them. You basically download all the forms, fill them out, file them and they usually set a court date, you go in and state the marriage is over and that's it.

I wanted to write to you, not to help you with getting divorced but to see if you've done everything you can to make your marriage work and if you need any help in that area. I really like to see people make their marriage work and become all that they dreamed it could be rather than giving up. Please feel free to email me at ____@____.com.

Divorce is not easy no matter how you file. If you have children and/or property go with an attorney and let them work for you. It will cost more but it will be worth it in the end. Even if you and your husband "agree" on everything it helps if something comes up that you don't agree on. Let everything go through the court, child support, visitation, etc. Both parties will be better for it. I was married for 19 years and tried the "on-line" way.
After months of hassle I went to an attorney and it was over - no more hassle! Good luck!
