Need Salon in Akron Area

My mom was a hair dresser for almost 25 years and has decided not to continue that career. She has always done my hair since I was born, colored it, cut it etc. So I am a little spoiled and very used to my mom taking care of my hair and only one other person in my life has ever cut my hair. And of course I have almost never paid for any of my mom's services. She only made me pay what the salon paid for the product. It is now time to find another salon and as you can imagine I'm very nervous. Does anyone know of any salons in the Akron Ohio area that you would recommend? I'm not willing to pay a crazy amount to get my hair done I just need to find one that won't turn my hair orange and cut it all off. haha. THanks!

What can I do next?

I highly recommend James M Salon behind Summit Mall. Jen Woog has been my hairstylist for over 10 years and I have had numerous compliments on my color and cuts. They are fantastic there. ###-###-####

Hi! I realize this is way late, but I just joined the group. I want to tell you about an outstanding salon in the Akron community. This salon is AWESOME!. The salon is called BESSAY and is owned by Kenneth and Cordell Slack. You can have the utmost confidence in the quality service and customer care they provide. They are highly skilled and trained in their craft. Cordell is a master of cut, color and style. His clientele is highly diverse. The salon has repeatedly won accolades in Akron Life and Leisure for best salon across the board! I love these guys! They have been my choice in hair care before I moved to the community. I have been a client for more than a decade! Phone them at ###-###-####. They are on Facebook and on the web.

Hi L.!

A very good friend of mine works at a salon in Sagamore Hills. It's about a 20 minute drive from Akron. If you're interested, the salon is called Mane Difference (in the Marc's plaza). My friend's name is CJ but all of the women there are great, talented, friendly and definitely affordable. The phone number is ###-###-####.

Good luck!

I too like MC Hair, so that would be one recommendation. I didn't like the people at Turning Point - the sign says WALK-INS WELCOME, but I definitely wasn't welcome. I ended up leaving because I didn't want anyone with attitudes like that touching my hair with scissors!

If you REALLY want to go on the low-cost side, you could do Regency Beauty Institute ###-###-#### on Buchholzer (behind Chapel Hill Mall). They are a school. They consult with you then with their instructors. Instructors supervise and are very good. I think a cut is $9 and cut/style is $12! I like Jill, but my last cut was by Kayte M. - both are VERY GOOD! In fact, my first cut from Jill was the best cut I'd ever had from ANYONE! It grew in so well that I went almost 3 months before I got it cut again. Good luck to you!

My favorite salon to go to is "Styles That Glitter" on S. Main St. I am always happy with how my hair turns out...I generally go for haircuts or highlights but have also done some coloring. Ask for Mary. Another one that does well is Nicole Jeffereys...out by the blimp. I'm also picky about who touches my hair and have tried a few different places. Those two were my favorites. Good luck and let everyone know if you find somewhere good!

I like Turning Point in Stow. I only get cuts so I'm not sure what prices run for extra procedures but the owner and staff are wonderful and friendly.

Hi L.... I totally understand - I personally struggled for years to find a good stylist between the time I was in college to moving back to the NE Ohio region. I live in Akron currently and after a 2 year search - I've been to the same stylist for 2 years and wouldn't change for anything! I go to the Macy's salon in Chapel Hill Mall. I see Hannah. She is absolutely fantastic. She was the manager of the salon until stepping down to be home with her kids more - so that speaks for her talent! She does my hair and my eyebrows - and I've never been happier. Actually - I can say that in all my life, she's the only person to take care of my hair in a satisfactory way! Love her! Hope this helps, good luck in your search!

Hi L., I would highly recommend MC Hair Consultants on Portage Trail in Cuyahoga Falls and ask for JJ. She is AWESOME and I think a standard cut is about 35 dollars. Also, my neighbor cuts hair at A White Pond Paradise on White Pond Dr. in Akron- ask for AMY. She is fantastic as well. Both salons have websites. Good Luck!
