Does anyone have a recommendation for a good family doctor in or around the Long Beach area. I just had my first child and would like to get a family doctor rather than a pediatrician.
I've had no luck thus far.

Thanks,
M.

So What Happened?

Everyone, THANK YOU so much! This is so very helpful because I've been at a loss and don't want to have to visit a multitude of dr.'s before finding the right one. I'll start with your suggestions.
Again, MANY THANKS!!!

My 3 childen have been with Dr. Robert Castillo at Pioneer Med. center for years. He and his staff are absolutely wonderful. The are located close to the traffic circle on Los Cyotes. I know how difficult it is to find a good pediatrician! Good luck!!

Dr. Grant Uba's group is great (Uba and Zamost). I am not sure his group is accepting new patients, though. Give him a try. Good luck! As far as pediatricians go, I have been very happy with Columbia Pediatrics (Dr. Lee is very thorough!) Family doctors are wonderful, but I think it is really important to have a pediatrician for your child.

I am not sure if he is a Family Dr. (he might be a pediatrician) but both my son's (10 year old and 15 month old) are with Dr. Maneffa. He is at the Harriman Jones Building off of Redondo and Spring. I have to say he is a great Dr and he has a wonderful staff.

Hi M. -

I too go to Centers for Family Medicine in Los Alamitos. Dr. DeSousa is a great doctor. He has been seeing my daughter since the day she was born. My doctor is Dr. Pauer and she too is awesome. Both of these doctors are extremely thorough. The only thing is, because they are such great doctors, you need to book your appointment about a month in advance (except for sick visits of course). Not only are the doctors great, but the staff is extremely helpful, porfessional and a kind.

Congrats on your little bundle! You are in for the time of your life! :)

Sincerely,
C.

M.,
Congratulations!!
I have a great family Doctor that was referred to me by a friend. He is in Bellflower and his name is Doctor Kyan. Here is his number: ###-###-####. He is not a pediatrician - he also takes care of my husband and I. I love his office staff and what first drew me to him was that with my first baby instaed of just laying his hands on and inspecting my new born - he told me what he was going to do and what he was looking for. His staff has allowed me to come in last minute to check my child out and also has taken late lunch to make sure I was taken care of.
I think he is THE BEST!
Good luck in your quest. I hope you give him a call.
P.

Hi M.,

I hadn't thought of a "family doctor" for everyone... that does seem convenient. But, due to some health issues I have had lately, I don't feel that one doctor best suits the needs of children and adults.

I am very happy with Columbia Pediatrics near Long Beach Memorial and Dr. Clayton DeJong on Redondo and 3rd for the adults.

Good luck!

Lisa

I, too, have been seeking a good doctor in the LB area. I have friends who have highly recommended Dr. LaDuca with Centers for Family Medicine. They have a traditional medical approach and take care of the entire family. I have yet to personally visit their office, but I thought I'd pass on the recommendation nonetheless. They are located in Los Alamitos on the corner of Los Alamitos Blvd. and Katella behind the Original Fish Company near Boot Barn. Their phone number is ###-###-####.
