Need Recommendations for Marriage Counseling

My husband and I have been married for two years and have a 10 month old daughter. Our marriage feels like it is on a rollercoaster, each of us feels lonely and misunderstood. Yesterday, my husband asked if I wanted out of the marriage. NO WAY!!! I was so hurt that he would even ask that, but it gave me insight into his opinion of the marriage. We have had many conversations about our roles in the relationship and what each of us could do differently, but nothing seems to change. I am beginning to think that an outside person (counselor) could help give us some direction. Does anyone have experience with (or know someone who has had experience with) an effective marriage counselor? I would appreciate any recommendations.

What can I do next?

Give Dr. Sean Stokes a call. He's at Lifeway Counseling Center in Denton. My husband and I use him and I really like him. He's a good christian man. I also see Kathryn there in the same office by myself, so they are both good. ###-###-####

If money is an issue and you live near Denton, you could use the services provided by UNT or TX Woman's Univ. They let their grad students do counceling under the supervision of their professors and you pay on a sliding scale. I have not used their services, but have seen recommendations for them on this website. Good luck to you both. Marriage is especially hard after you have children because it changes everything and you realize how many things you now don't see eye to eye on. I think you are very wise to seek help now.

My church provides professional counseling, Trietsch Methodist in Flower Mound. There are 3 counselors, Marilyn Eutsler, Brad Watts or Kim Bonneau. Fees are on a sliding scale, no one is turned away b/c of financial need. ###-###-####. Here's the church website, tho I couldn't find counseling info on it: www.tmumc.org

R.,
You are not alone. All couples have problems. If you really believe on marriage, have patience and Love. Is always a good idea to find a counselor for help specially since your marriage is so fresh. Probably the arguments are getting stronger because of the new role of being parents. We need to erase all the conceptions you had about marriage and realize we are different persons and couples. Expectations can disappoint you. So, breath and start working for a good marriage and don't give up (specaially for that beautiful baby). I recommend this christian speaker that focus on marriage. His name is Jimmy Evans you can find him on MarriageToday.com.
God Bless !!!
