I am looking for good thrift stores in the Tampa/Brandon area. Basically I am looking for used toys and toddler clothing in good condition. I'm a mom on a budget and every bit saved helps! Thank you!

What can I do next?

You should definitely check out the Salvation Army on Nebraska Ave. It's near Fowler Ave. They have loads of toddler clothing in excellent condition... some still have the tags on them! And if you go on Mondays, mostly everything in the store is $1.00!
You can't beat that!

Don't know the name of it but there is a good one in Brandon not far from the hospital. I am sorry I can't remember the name of the place or address. It has been awhile since I have been there. If you know where the music store is on Oakfield you can leave their driveway and turn right. It is down on the left hand side.

Hello E.;

I know what you mean, one of my favorite places is Once Upon a Child, it's in a plaza on the corner of Kings and Lumsden in Brandon, right by play it again sports and sound exchange. There's another one on 56th st. south of Fowler ave., I can't remember the name of it, but it's also a great place to go. I believe there's one on Parson's ave in Brandon, just south of 60, and one on Kennedy Blvd. Sorry I can't remember the names of most of these places, I'm horrible with names, but if you look in the phone book under consignment you might be able to find the names of the places I'm talking about. I hope this helps, take care.

Salvation Army is always good and they have 1/2 off sales on Wed. and Sat. Also, try Once Upon a Child in Brandon, it is a consignment store and they buy things from you, too, and give you cash. In Tampa, there is a new thrift store on Fowler/I-275 but haven't been there yet...supposed to be good. The place from the previous post at 56th st. and Fowler is Comfy Kids.

I have toys! I also have a toddler, but we have so many I would love to give them away to a good home. A good place I like to buy is the goodwill on 60 in brandon, salvation army on 60 and once apon a child. Plus at the once apon a child store I can bring them shawns old things and get him new. Let me know if you still need some toddler toys and clothes, because I have a ton! T.

Once Upon a Child in Brandon is awesome. I go there all the time, or used to before my son started outgrowing the sizes they carry. Just google it for an address.

I remember seeing a sign for one across the street from the Super Walmart in New Tampa, too. Don't know the name since I've never been, but it's the shopping plaza directly across or right before the Wal-mart (on the right, if you got off of 75, like I do). The only problem with consigment lately is I've noticed that I can get brand new things from just about anywhere on clearance racks for the same price, if not cheaper. If you're looking for Ralph Lauren, Old Navy, Children's Place, etc. then consignments are good, but if you see the usual Target/Walmart brands for $4 or $5 on their shelves, then you aren't getting a bargain.

I like Ebay. Type in the size you want, then the word "lot". You can get a whole bunch of stuff for a super discount, if the seller has a decent shipping price. For example: boys 4t lot. Or just 4T, then select the clothing category, then "boys" to narrow it down from the girls' stuff.

Hi! Time may be an issue for you but garage/yard sales can be great. We just had one last weekend; we sold a train table for $25 that we had previously bought at a garage sale for only $40. Of course, g-sales are hit or miss and take time :-( Also, my neighbor and I also recently started trading books. My kids don't need Brand NEW they just need NEW to THEM.

Pendy's Consignment shop in the plaza across from Lifestyles there off Oakfield is good, but you need to stop by often stuff goes quickly. If you head into Tampa there is Baby Boomerang on Kennedy, I think, it's closer towards Armenia then Dale Mabry. I bought our Exersaucer there, it was in good enough condition to hand down to my cousin for her first baby after our two kids.

Do you know anyone to trade with? My older sister has a girl the same age as my son, so we swap for our second kids since my 2nd is a girl and her 2nd is a boy.

Good luck, I hope to see more shops added to your response, I'm always looking for deals, stay on budget and indirectly recycle good stuff.

On the corner of Kings and Lumsden in Brandon there is a shop called " ONCE UPON A CHILD". It is next to the "PLay it again Sports " store.They have the greatest selection from clothes to toys to furniture. I was in there with a friend looking for a stroller for her grand-daughter and was pleasently suprised on the selection that they have. Good luck...I understand the tight budget now adays and this store should be a great source for you....M. C.
