My family is looking to move to McKinney. We would like to find an agent to help us find a home. We would prefer someone who is very familiar with the McKinney area and can share that info so that we're able to find the perfect home for our family. Have you worked with or do you know a great agent that you can recommend? Thanks in advance for your help!

What can I do next?

I highly recommend Mike Ripperger: http://206.173.89.50/clientsites/mlsmike_com/index.html
He helped my huband and me buy our house 3 years ago. Very nice guy, laid back and knowledgable, was much more interested in helping us to find a good fit than in pressuring us to buy anything. He also lives in the historic district of McKinney with his wife and 2 young daughters, so is very helpful with referrals to help families get settled.

Our realtor is Mike Askins who I would highly recommend. He was voted one of the best realtors in the DFW area by D Magazine and has a great rebate program for buyers and sellers. He is also based out of McKinney.

We have a really good friend who is a real estate agent. His name is Doug Sassone. He is fair, honest and a great person and friend. Just give him a call and tell him that T. referred you! Not only is this his area, but he lives in McKinney as well.

Good luck!!

S E, we also just recently made the move to McKinney. You're going to love it. Our agent was Tami James, we were very happy that we went with her. She really knows the area and lives rather close to us actually. You won't be dissapointed. Good Luck...I remember how confusing it all was buying a new house in a new location!!

I HIGHLY recommend Tannah McGaughy from Ebby Halliday. We were from out of state and recommended to her and she went above and beyond for us. We looked at about 60 houses in 3 days in the whole metroplex. We liked one but she knew that once we found THE house, we would know it. We weren't so sure that would happen but she was right - we found THE House. She didn't push us to make a decision on a house we were so so on like some other agents do. We actually fell in love with a house in McKinney and live here now and LOVE it.

She lives in Allen right next to McKinney so she knows the area very well. We found a foreclosure on a golf course and she knew that we could offer less than the asking price, even though they already just lowered it and it was almost $100,000 off what it originally should have been at. She really has a feel for the business and goes out of the way.

Since our house was a foreclosure, she knows a lot about the builders in the area (since she used to work for one) and knew the builder of our house would still would have a home warranty in effect. We were able to get brick work done, windows replaced and other repairs done under home warranty. Because she knew this, we knew we got a heck of a deal on this house and didn't have to put our own money into it.

Because we were out of town, she also organized people to come in and clean it (we paid of course but she let them in while we were out of town), had the HVAC company come and fix stuff, the handi-man fixed minor issues, etc so our house was ready to MOVE in, when we came into town. That was such a relief to pull into the driveway and know the house was clean and fixed up because she was so nice to organize that for us.

We referred her to another co-worker being transferred down here. They bought a house in a new sub that didn't have many comps at all. Tannah did a lot of hard work to put together information for them for houses that were too new to have comps. They were also extremely pleased with her.

She's extremely pleasant to work with, she's extremely organized and that made the entire process of house hunting very easy.

Good luck finding something! :)

She is really awesome. She sold our house for more than our asking price and even helped us get our new home for less than we anticipated. My husband and I also had different ideas of what we wanted and she was patient in taking us to over fifty houses from Wylie to Celina; no I'm not kidding. She is a mamasourse member but I don't think she advertises here. She is married to a loan officer and has two boys. I do believe she knows McKinney well. Have fun; as it is a buyers market.
