Hi Everyone! My son's 16th bday is in February and he'd like to have a big party (why do girls get sweet 16s and not boys??? :) ). He's already trying to plan and has upwards of 25 kids to invite. I don't think we will have enough room at the house - any "cool" ideas?? Thanks!

What can I do next?

There is a wonderful new place that has just opened in Morrisville called The Studio. It is totally wired for Karaoke and you can either just rent the space or let the owners do all the catering and supply refreshments, cake, etc. It is decorated like a beach with murals on the wall of sea, sunset and palm trees. There is a stage for the Karaoke singer and lovely plate glass round tables with wrought iron chairs for the guests and the whole cement floor is hand painted. It is in the Morrisville Square Shopping center (under the clock) on Morrisville/Carpenter road. Your son could download his own music onto their equipment.

I am not sure if 16 year olds are into inflatable places... I know I still love them, and I am 30! :-) There is a place called Pump It Up near the airport. They have older kid inflatables like obstacle courses and sports related activities. There is also a newer place called Jump Zone in Holly Springs. I have never been to that one, but I heard it was fun.

Not so sure if it's cool to a 16 year old, but I guess it depend on the 16 year old and his friends.

Silly question - did you ask him what he wants to do? It would be hard to say unless we knew your son and what he was into.

Somethings I have done as a party planner are:
Rent out a venue and have a rock n roll party
Rent a movie theater and have them hook up his game system to the screen
Paintball
There's a race track in Raleigh - you have to be 16 to race but its a step up from go carts
Skate Park

Good luck!

The movie theater on Six Forks rd would be a great place to host a party. What about ice skating, there are several rinks in the area. Maybe paint-ball.
