Need Outfit for 1 Year Old Boy for Wedding

Hello All - We have a wedding to go to in Sept. I need to find an outfit for my 1 year old son. I have no idea where to look for boy dress clothes. I have checked in the mall and somehow I don't think a t-shirt is appropriate. Any suggestion on where I can go to find something. I would really appreciate any advice on where to go. I currently live in the fairfax area but I'm willing to drive almost anywhere to go look. Thanks so much for your help.

What can I do next?

Try www.woodensoldier.com They have the best dressy clothes for kids. My niece used them for her jr. bridesmaids. But it is nice to find little boy dressy clothes that don't look like little men.

Depends on how much you want to spend. I usually find things at Janie and Jack, or at Macy's/Nordstrom (Ralph Lauren stuff). You can also try the new Polo Children's outlet in Leesburg! We're going to a casual wedding in September, and I bought his outfit at the Polo outlet. I got a long-sleeved blue button-down shirt and khaki pants for $40.

Old Navy and Baby Gap have really nice classic khaki pants and button up shirts! Your baby will be one handsome little fella in the classically crisp Oxford shirt and a pair of khakis or cords for a darlingly dressed-up style. They also have super cute shoes!!! I hope this helps! Good Luck!

Try Burlington Coat Factory. I haven't checked in a while, but their baby depot department used to be one of the best places in the area for children's dress clothes. I think there's one in Fairfax too.

Hi! A few years ago we attended my brother-in-law's wedding when my son was 7 months old. My mother-in-law got him the most adorable outfit which was all one piece, and all white, but looked like a tux, complete with bow tie. I believe she got it at a department store. You might just go to Fair Oaks or Tysons Mall and look around. Good luck and have fun! (Definitely don't take him in a t-shirt!) :)

Hi S.,
Maybe you're not the type to shop second hand, but I always buy my son's dressy clothing at "once upon a child" (a children's resale chain). You can get things very cheaply, and considering that dress clothes are usually only worn once or twice, I think it's silly to pay a lot for them new. Max has been to four weddings and he's only 2.5, plus there's been Christmas Eve services, Easter, etc. There's a branch in Manassas (directions at www.ouac.com) and hopefully you can find something there. Good Luck! -M.

i had my son at a wedding when he was 14 months. it was afternoon wedding. he was in a long sleeve button shirt (his name for a button down shirt), khakis, and shoes. it really depends what you have in mind. as there are lots of choices. at the dulles town center there is strasburg. their clothing is very dressy.

I have had the same problem trying to find dressy outfits for infants and toddlers. Burlington Coat Factory (Greenbelt, MD) has some, but not high quality. Baby Boutiques, there is one on King's Street in Alexandria. I can not remember the name. Also, Children's Palace has some but not a lot.

It kind of stinks to pay a bunch of money for an outfit he may only wear once but Janie & Jack or Strausburg usually have dressy clothes for both boys and girls. I've also occassionally seen outfits at resale shops. Maybe try calling Kid to Kid in Centreville or Little Lords & Ladies in South Riding (not too far from Centreville). Both are pretty good resale shops and they may be able to tell you if they have something worth driving there to check it out. Good luck!

Hi,

I have found the cutest dress clothes for kids at Burlington Coat Factory! The clothes are cute, and the prices are inexpensive. Since you live in Fairfax, there is one right off of Rt. 50, near the intersection Rt. 29. They have the cutest vest, shirt and pants sets. It comes with a clip on tie, and that have all colors. I got one for my 18 month old recently. Good luck!!

I second Burlington Coat Factory in Fairfax. They have a complete Baby Depot on the 2nd floor and have tons of affordable brand-name clothes. I get all the dressy clothes for my girls there - holidays and weddings.
Quality is good, *especially* for something that will be worn only once or twice before they grow out of it.
I'd recommend starting there before the pricier shops.
Have fun shopping!
