Need Input on Honda Odyssey

Me and my husband are considering a mini-van for a next purchase. I really like the odyssey and have already test drove one. Honda has an outstanding reputation for vehicles which is one reason why I like it, but I have read some reviews that say some of the 06 and 07 models are having transmission problems and making noises that cannot be fixed by the dealership. I would like some input if you own one of these vans. I'm looking at the EX-L w/ res & nav. I do not want to spend that much money on a van that I will have problems with, nor do I have the time. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

What can I do next?

I love, love, love mine. I have a 2003, the last year of the old model. I like it better than my girlfriend's new one! I keep it maintained by a dealer (expensive but I feel it's worth the extra $ for piece of mind.

Good luck.

I work for Honda Finance and I am leasing a 2006 Odyssey and could not have better things to say. It was hard for me to fess up and admit that I loved driving this mini-van but after I got over that it was great. We have had no problems with this, it's the EX model but not with leather or nav. We were in a minor car accident with both kids and my husband (hit by a box truck only going 10+ mph) the van held up great, everyone was fine and we were grateful for the van. I would recommend this van 100%.

Good luck!

I am not sure about the Honda, I've heard great things though, HOWEVER, everytime I hear the words "problem with transmition" I shiver...I had a Chrysler minivan that worked fine for the first 80000 miles and started with one problem and then the other and it ended up being the transmition among other problems. These cars are unfamous for it (I didn't know), but what I DO know is that thoses problems are very expensive to fix, and is almost not worth it. We had to get rid of it since repairs were in the 2000 to 3000 neirbohood, just for the transmition, not to mention the rest of the problems. We did a lot of research and ended up with a Toyota Sienna, less expensive than the Honda and extremely reliable. Its a 2006 and is the xl model. We are very happy with it but mostly because we did our homework and was a great buy. We got it at Toyota of Roswell, EXCELENT service and we bought the extended guarantee, just to be sure. I woudl advise you to consider this model too and do a LOT of research.
Good Luck

My husband is a Technicain at Gwinnett Place Honda and has been for the last 10 years. He has never said a discouraging word about the Odyssey and tells me all the time that when we our girls get older and we need to buy a mini-van that we will buy an Odyssey. I think it would be great choice!
