Need Information on Area Doctors

Since we are moving into the area from Louisville KY, none of my current doctors have any recommendations for Grand Rapids. We are going to be living in the Forest Hills area. Anybody have recommendations for good pediatricians, pediatric dentist, peds allergist and peds ENT? My youngest, has tubes in his ears and has enviornmental allergies (dust, mold, trees, grasses etc). My eldest has some sensory issues, which we have addressed, but I need a compassionate pediatrician who is not going to dismiss me as having a "boy" if that makes sense.
Thanks.

If you're in the Forest Hills area - Western Michigan Pediatrics is great. They're right on Kenmoor by the freeway. ###-###-####) There's several doctors in the office so getting an appt for a sick kids is easy. For allergiest - There's one right behind the 5/3 bank on Cascade. Grand Rapids Allergy. ###-###-####) My kids all have severe food/environmental allergies & I love this office. (Karen Gell is one of the Drs). They could probably give you a referral to an ENT & the ped could give you one for the dentist in that area.

hello there and welcome to GR! I too take my daughter to Dr. Nancy Brooks office on the East Beltine in GR for her allergies/asthma. But her primary Doc is Dr. Michael App. He is with a medical group called MMPC. They are located on Michigan Street in GR. I can't say enough about Dr. App. I have 1 year old twins and when I had them he was so helpful and always willing to answer any questions day or night. I actually took my kids there because I received so many recomendations from friend and people I work with at the hospital. I think you and your boys would just love him. Here's their number ###-###-####

Hi J.,

Welcome to GR. I have a fabulous pediatrician who was recommended to me by our OT for my daughter's sensory issues. He has a 30+ year old son who still struggles with sensory stuff so he has a first hand experience with it. His name is Dennis Mogle. ###-###-####. His office just moved and it is a drive for me, but he is so worth every minute. He was the first doctor that didn't accuse my parenting of her issues and he justs "gets it."

Our ped. allergist is Dr. Karen Gell. ###-###-####. She is in the Cascade area.

Our ped. ENT is Dr. Frances Hart who is right downtown GR, across the street from Spectrum Health Hospital. ###-###-####.

My ped. dentist is really good, but is up in Sparta. I am sure there are good dentists in the Forest Hills area. Our dentist is Dr. Robert Roseberry, ###-###-####.

Hello J.,
My daughter was recently diagnosed with allergies (seasonal, cat, dust, very similar to what you described). I took her to Dr. Nancy Brooke for her testing, and I was very pleased with Dr. Brooke and all of her staff. They deal with children often and were very kind, understanding, and thorough. Also, her office isn,t too far from the Forest Hills area. I hope your move here goes smoothly and that you enjoy West Michigan.
Blessings
Rachael

My daughter had a cavity and I was so scared for her but they made it a breeze they told her they were putting a star in her tooth and what would she like them to draw on it..my daughter didnt feel a thing they were great!

Not one ear infection since!

If you are looking for a good Naturopath, which I would highly recommend a wonderful man named Dale Tamminga has a practice in that area, in Cascade to be specific but it's called "healthy for life"

He is so wonderful, you should give him a try if you are looking for one.

I have an awesome family physcian that has seen both my girls since they were born. In fact, he made it to the hospital so fast after the second was born that we were still in labor & delivery!! He has an awesome bedside manner, and understands difficulty with children. His name is Dr. Jeffery Johnson with A.F. Associates on Michigan Ave near the East Beltline. He's the only one in the practice that is accepting new patients. Their phone number is ###-###-####.

My oldest is seeing a pediatric allergist for the first time on Wednesday. I'm told he's good, but as I've said I haven't met him yet. His name is Dr. Townly. He's on the East Beltine near Michigan Ave & I-96. Off the top of my head I don't know his phone number.

Hope these help.

Forest Hills Pediatrics is WONDERFUL! We live in Rockford and drive almost 30 minutes to this office. Haven't met a doctor there that I don't like. Phone: ###-###-#### Website: http://www.foresthillspediatrics.com/

You can go and meet with their office manager first. She'll explain how their office works, their procedures and give you the handy dandy "handbook". Check them out, I don't think you'll be disappointed. Good Luck!

I have a son with multiple disabilities including hearing loss. We see Dr Daniels for all our ENT stuff (he does pediatric cochlear implants for Grand Rapids/Spectrum). He also did my son's tonsil & adenoidectomy. His office:
ENT Consultants
4880 Cascade Rd SE
Grand Rapids, MI 49546

We also use Forest Hills Pediatrics and Amy DeYoung (on the Beltline) is our pediatric dentist. We don't need a pediatric allergist but I have been a patient of Dr Brooke's. I would recommend all these people and all are near Forest Hills.

Welcome to the area. I have two children 8 and 12. My 12 year old has alot of medical issues. The GR area is a great area for medical services. The new childrens hospital will be open in 2010. I recommend you choose DRs that are affliated with Spectrum Health.
I live in Rockford and and very happy with these DRs we use.....Spectrum Health Primary Care Partners ###-###-#### on East Beltline. They do pediatrics and internal med. We use them for our kids as well as for us. I have met all the DRs in practice, very caring, I am not sure who has openings in the practice.
An excellant allergist is Dr Nancy Brooke she is also located on the Beltline. My son had a severe food allergy amongst many other things including the sensory issues. She was very patient and caring with his needle phobia over the years. He finally outgrew his allergy last year.
The ENT we use is Dr. John Kosta he is off Cascade. He has done tonsils, and several sinus surgurgies for my son. He is very professional in the way he comes across at first but has worked very kindly when we explained my son's sensory issues when doing his nose scopes exams.
For a dentist we use Dr Johnathon Eagle on the Beltline. The practice is very professional and state of the art techiniques. They are very good with kids, prize box, picture wall of no cavaties, movies or music to distract kids.
Mary Free Bed has a great program for Sensory issues. We did this when my son was young.

Hope this is helpful....good luck with your move!
Don't be afraid to interview DRs before you choose, many will meet with you at the end of their day.
