I was wondering if anyone has opinions on in home childcare and daycare... which do you prefer? My husband and I currently work conflicting schedules so we don't have to pay for childcare. I understand that in some places the rate decreases at 18 months and also goes down even more at 2 years. I was hoping some of you may be able to tell me how much to expect to pay at 18 months and then at 2 year. Just a ballpark estimate because I honestly have no idea. Also, does anyone know of any part time daycares/in home daycares for children of these ages? I called around when she was 6 months old and the least expensive place I found was $190, but no place began taking children for part time until they were around 2. Also, if you have any recommendations for a daycare or in home daycare in McKinney I would love to get your opinion. Please let me know if you have any information.

I have heard GREAT things about Children's Lighthouse in McKinney. My neighbor uses them and that was her third daycare in about six months. She raves about them---the teachers are long term, the director is well informed, and the whole place is really kid friendly.

Hi K.,

I have an in-home day care in McKinney. I have an opening for full or part time care. I have a 2 yr old daughter. When she was 2 months I started working for a day care center to be close to her. We were both sick all the time. She had an on going ear infection for 3 months. We tried several different meds. Nothing seemed to help. I finally decided to bring her home. She got well in just a weeks time. I started taking care of children in my home and it has been great. We just moved to McKinney and now the kids have a playroom all to themselves. I have been taking care of kids for many years from 0-12 yrs old. I love children and want to provide them with a fun loving place to play and learn. I am CPR and first aid certified and am listed with the state to provide in home care. If you are interested please contact me @ ###-###-#### ____@____.com

Thank you,

M.

I too am from Lubbock. I lived their from birth-12 yrs old. =)

Hi K.,
You asked for opinions on day care or in home care. I have two sons now 20 months and 3 y/o. They have been in day care since they were each 12 weeks old. At first I wanted an inhome day care situation. I thought this would ensure that my baby was getting one on one attention throughout the day. But I had a hard time finding inhome care that I felt comfortable with. So I started considering a day care facility. What really gives me piece of mind is there seems to be more accountablity at day care than inhome. What I mean by that is if a care giver is doing something to harm my children, or not follow proceedure, there is more of a chance of that behavior being observed by another teacher, parent or director. Also, I like the social interaction of the kids in the same age group. That's my two cents....D.
