Hello Mamas! I need some advice on new ideas for feeding my 15 month old. Everything I try to give him besides breakfast & fruits he spits out. I have been trying to feed him different things & repeat them to see if he likes them but I feel like I am running out of ideas. Any suggestions would be a great help. Thanks. :)

What can I do next?

I hav e the SAME issue...so I let him eat what he wants and make sure he has enough formula so that if he is not eating I know he is getting the nutrients he needs. My naturapath assures me he will not starve, and I believe that. Some days it is literally three bananas and some grapes. I have heard that after growth spurts the appetite shifts somewhat, so I think that is where we are.
Good Luck

Let your baby dictate what he will eat - raw foods are best for everyone - if you must cook, steaming veggies is alright because you don't lose quite as many nutrients as you would if you boiled - or (God forbid) microwaved - them. Introduce meat and dairy very sparingly as it really isn't nutritious for humans - the food pyramid we were all taught in school is a lie and is actually a very unbalanced way of eating. Eating meats and dairy acidifies the body and creates a terrain for yeasts, fungus and parasites to colonize and cause numerous health challenges (like diabetes, heart disease, and fibromyalgia among others). If you can avoid your child becoming used to eating incorrectly from the start he will be a much healthier person throughout his life.

My son is only 10 months so we haven't gone through real picky stages yet, but I've had fun going to the library and checking out baby food cook books, there are actually quite a few out there. Or the bookstore probably has even more. It just gives us different ideas and changes things up a little. Good luck!

When my son was that age, all I could get him to eat, besides fruit, were hot dogs and cheese. So I started mixing them with better things for him. I would make pasta with peas and carrots and stuff a little bit of the hot dog into it etc. (sounds gross, i know, but it helped him try other things). After awhile he would eat all the stuff that I had "tweaked" without the cheese and hot dog.

If your son the same thing for a few days, he will be fine. Kids go through so many stages and phases, it is so hard to keep up with them! Hope it works out!

My son went through a little phase and still sometimes does where he doesnt want to eat what we serve him. At that age I use to just start feeding him baby food. I know that sounds stupid but, I felt like if he wont eat green beans whole but, he will mashed up then I will mash them up or just buy the baby food green beans. He would feed it to himself. For my son it is a texture thing I think. here are few things he loves:
snacks: madarin oranges with graham crackers, yogurt, peanut butter and crackers, crackers and cheese, chicken nuggest, grilled cheese(I put on top of the cheese before I grill frozen peas they defrost as the cheese melts), pb&j,all the gerber graduates items he loves especially the carrots! Ham and cheese sandwich. I have heard a lot of moms try hummus with their kids. We havent yet. Good luck!

Don't let him be picky. Give him some of what you know he will eat and something new and tell him that he has to at least try it. He needs to learn that what mom makes for a meal is what is to eat or he can go hungry til the next meal.

You are not a short-order cook. It seems mean but worked for my son.

My son is almost 1 and he is becoming a picky eater! I have read this is normal and to let them eat what they will eat and not to force it. I have attempted something 1 day and he refuses, but the next day he will eat it. If he likes breakfast foods like muffins or pancakes, try and include some veggies in those. I am making some carrot/zucchini bread today to see how that goes. Sometimes I can sneak peas in his applesauce, but he is very smart and can detect it! I know it is frustrating, but just keep trying. They will eat if they are hungry. As toddlers get older, their growth slows and so does their appetite. Good luck!

Try giving him fun foods and things he can dip. My son will eat anything if he can dip it into any sauce. He never liked chicken until I cut it into strips and gave him a dip for it. What I did recently was add a little bit of salad dressing into plain yogurt and cut up veggies and chicken into strips to let him dip. He also likes to dip into applesauce. I also had success making food look like something else. I cut his sandwich into a shape with cookie cutters or a knife or make a veggie or fruit face. If it's fun, he's a lot more likely to eat it.
