I am trying to potty train my 2 year old daughter, but every time I get her to where she will use the potty she goes back to her daddy's house and they don't try to potty train her. They keep saying they won't start potty training her until she can start telling them she needs to potty. But she won't do that because she is also behind on her talking too. I am at my wits end and don't know what to do. Every bit of progress I make gets completly erased when she goes back over there, so I'm always haveing to start over. If anybody has any advice for me I am willing to try it.

What can I do next?

If you can get her to always want to use the potty. When she is going to go by her dad's house she won't want to wear a diaper or pull up any more. Keep telling her that big girls wear panties like mommy. I think that would help with her dad.

I was going to tell you to teach her the sign, but Tanya already did! ha!

You can buy the Signing Time! videos. They are WONDERFUL! My daughter loves them. Kids can learn SO much from these videos. When they can't say the word, they can sign it. My daughter has also gained a HUGE vocabulary from watching Signing Time!

Teach her the sign for potty. put your thumb between your index and middle fingers and make a fist and shake it side to side. Sign is a great way for kids that do not have the verbal skills to tell what they want. Get a book on baby sign and use it with her. It has been proven to help with their verbal skills. Don't forget to tell her daddy that you are using it.

you are probably feeling exhausted and demoralized as your child battles with you and both of your struggles. Clearly she knows what is expected of her at either home. unfortunately you are just going to have to keep encouraging her behavior in a positive manner. Your Next Step Is Be Consistent With Your Child positive reinforcement works far better than punishment. Many children refuse to train and may regress at any point in the training process especially in a situation like yours. View this as a temporary setback and avoid shaming or scolding the child. Continue to base your training on encouragement and praise for a job well done. she will know and understand what you expect, unfortunately it does make it harder for you. reguardless The best reward for good behavior remains parental approval. Telling your toddler that he or she has done something good instills confidence and is a powerful motivator.Good luck!
