Need Help with Leaking Diapers at Nightime!

I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and possible solutions! We use Pampers Cruisers Stage 3 diapers for our daughter. She is 13 mo and weights about 20lbs. We have no problems with diapers leaking during the day (unless hubby is watching her and forgets to change her!!). However, she seems to be waking up with wet clothes, blankets and with a completely wet, saturated (not dirty) diaper every morning. My husband and I are getting tired of changing the sheets and throwing her in the tub every morning! She gets about 16oz of whole milk and 16 oz of juice/water every day with her last liquid around 7:00 when we finish dinner. She goes to bed between 8-8:30 and (lucky for us!!!) sleeps through the night until around 7-7:30. Her diaper is usually pretty wet when we change it before bed. We have tried other brands of diapers - Huggies, Luvs and they seem to leak during the day. She is tall and skinny and they just don't seem to fit right. They also seem to give her almost instant diaper rash. Anyone have any suggestions? Am I just not seeing the "night time diapers" in the stores? Do they even make them? Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for all the great advice! The Huggies Overnights have worked for 2 nights in a row now - YEAH! They have much better coverage than the day time diapers, but it is pretty funny when she tries to walk in the morning when she first gets up! They are so big that they get in the way! So far they are not causing the diaper rash issue we had with Huggies diapers in general when she was a little younger. Hopefully by only wearing them at night we will be able to avoid that problem. I will keep my fingers crossed that we don't have the diaper rash and think of all of you and the wonderful advice when she wakes up dry every morning!

I'm having the same issue with my 17 month old son. He wakes every morning with his pj's all wet in front. Today I bought the nighttime diapers-Huggies Overnights. I hope they work. They seem like they will cover a lot more of the diaper area than a regular diaper.

First I would try to go up a size.I was having this same problem and when we went up a size it stopped. They will come up a little higher so she will have a little more protection even though her weight might not quite meet the requirements. They also have the pampers baby dry in that size so you might try those also.If none of that works then just put her in two diapers at night when you wake her up in the morning you can take the wet one off and leave the dry one on.Because most of the time the top one will be dry but it helps hold on the diaper better.Good luck I no how bad this stinks.

We use Cruisers during the day and Huggies Goodniites at night - we were having a lot of "wet" mornings as well. Or you can get things called Diaper Doublers at Babies R Us - they almost look like a maxi pad that you just put in the diaper and it makes them more absorbent. If our son drinks extra juice or water before bed we sometimes put the Doubler in the Overnite - better safe than sorry!

When we had that problem, we ended up just testing out diapers. The Target brand and the Sam's brand worked best for us. (Target for son, Sam's for daughter.) I found the generic brands seemed to work better for nighttime. And in regards to the rash, you might want to see if you can find a diaper without the gel in the middle. That seems to be the solution for my kiddo.

Good luck! I feel for you.

Hi! I also used pampered for a long time, but then discovered Huggies. Even the Huggie supremes hold better than the pampers at night. I also had trouble with a rash because of the pampers, but have had no trouble with the huggies! They cost the same and if you get the supremes- maroon pachage- they have the best fit and leak protection. Try those before you go to overnights, even if you have to use them during the day as well. I would never go back to pampers after trying the Huggies supreme! Hope you get it under control... I know how it feels to change and wash bedding every day! Goodluck!!!!

Try huggies nighttime diapers. They are a little harder to find but worth it. Tom Thumb and Babies R Us usually have them. I think they start at size 4 but using a bigger size will help too. Also, I layer the crib sheets with waterproof pads in between so if there is a leak, I can just pull off the top layer without taking the matress out.

Nothing worked as well for us at Huggies Goodnights. They seem a little pricy, but it saves money because you only use one diaper per night. Our older kids that wet the bed wear them and we have no wet beds!!

Same issue here. Look for the Huggies Overnites. I agree - they are hard to spot in the diaper aisle! But they are usually there at Target, Walmart, etc. if you look closely. You just have to not be fooled by the ones that are really pull-ups. I did that once. They are in a dark purple wrapping and look like this:

These worked like a charm for us!

I had the same problem with my son! He wears size 3, so I tried a size 4, but that didn't work - they were just too big. I finally got tired of washing and changing sheets and pjs every single morning, so I broke down and bought the Huggies night time diapers. The smallest they have is size 4, but they work great at night! I don't have the problem anymore. They are expensive, but one pack lasts a long time. I also tried cutting back his liquids an hour or so before bed, but that didn't help much, and I hated turning him down if he got thirsty. The night diapers are the way to go, at least for my son.

My daughter who has a 6-month-old daughter puts diaper covers (like you use with cloth diapers) over disposables whenever she uses them and they seem to contain most leaks. I know she got them somewhere in Dallas when she bought cloth diapers, but I'm not sure of the exact store or brand.

Just wanted to tell you that we had the same problem and we have been using Huggies Overnights for a while. It works great. I don't think they have a sz 3 but do have 4's. I would highly recommend them and would give the 4's a try. You can always save them for later. They are a purple package and have seen them at the grocery store, walmart, & target. Hope this helps.

I remeber exactly how you feel. Every morning my daughter was soaked.. IT gets old fast.. I starting using Huggies Nightime diapers(the only one I have found that makes them) they are in a dark blue and black package. I can only find them at Wal-Mart and sometimes Target.. But the key is I use a bigger size for nighttime and naps and long car rides. My daughter is 18 months and drinks water constantly... Alot.. She feels up a diaper she weighs 22 pounds and I use 4 Luvs during the day adn 5 nighttime Huggies at night .. good luck.. You can go on the Huggies website and print off 1.50 off coupons also.. Good luck,

The nighttime diapers are called Goodnites. I'm not sure who makes them, but they were a life saver with my son. They aren't cheap and not that many come in a pack but they do last a long time since you only use one a day. They have them for boys and girls. I spent the money because like you I got so sick of washing sheets and clothes every day.
