Hi. I thought I'd try to save a little $, so I colored my own hair. Yuck! It looks awful. I don't like the color at all. Could anyone recommend a great colorist on the Westside? Thanks so much!

What can I do next?

Can't say that I know a colorist on the Westside, sorry. But I hope you don't mind that I have responded. Our family relocated to Rio Rancho almost 3 years ago, also due to the relocation of my husband's job. Although my children are much older than yours, (as well as I am, I'm sure) I'm sure I probably understand the overwhelming experience it is to relocate. We lived on the east coast all our lives and relocated here from WV, where we lived for 6 years. This was after living in MD our entire lives. I have 5 children ranging from ages 16 to 28, four of which were teenagers when we moved and came with us. My oldest daughter lives in MD with her husband and my beautiful granddaughter, aged 5 and grandson, aged 8 months, whom I miss terribly. I am heading out to WA and OR over spring break to visit a few colleges with my youngest daughter. Maybe you could point out some awesome sights for us to see. I hope to hear from you soon.

Also not on the West side, but worth the drive:

Elysa (pronounced E - lisa) @ Laru ni Hati on Central. Right across from the Flying Star. Excellent colorist. Great person.

M., I am sorry to hear about your hair! I have done the same thing-twice! I have blonder hair which has gotten darker with my agae, but when I try to color it, it looks redish or just blah. But one time I made it look like I had stripes. My husband said he would pay the ridiculous hair stylist if I didnt try to color my hair again. So-I go to La Bella Salon. Located on Coors. You take the long Coors ByPass road and turn East onto Coors at the light. Then drive about 3 blocks past the new Lin Chinese Buffet place, and its on the right hand side. Big front doors. Its also a spa upstairs, so when you are ready it will nice place to take a break.
I see Andrew there,he is a master colorist. And he works weekends so your hubby can watch the kids whle you go.Ive been seeing him years. He does have personality, you just have to talk to him. And the other good place I heard of is Marc Pardo, also on Coors, but more North next to the Borders and Pei Weu off of Ellison. IS the west side you wanted? Or do you need more Rio Rancho? You will pay for your hair no matter what, compared to Phoenix, things are cheaper here. But compared to Texas, Im not sure. BUT if you are honest that you would like to be able to manage your color at home, they will find a good color and work with you.Andrew was going to help me with that, but I decided I better not try it anymore.
I hope you are adjusting OK. It can be hard to make friends here in ABQ, especially with those 2 little ones. Ive been here 5+ years, and I still dont have one real friend to rely on. My son is 5 and in kinder, but the other place he started to go was the little Gym. You should call. They have class for your 3 year old and the mommy classes for the wee one! The ittle Gym is off of Golf COurse, just past Paseo Del Norte.
Its easy to be lost in this area, so let me know if I confuse you.The streets stop and start weird. Then there is Gymboree too off of San Mateo. We did that too! Its just an idea to meet people. Good Luck. write me back if you need more or need to chat! -K.!
Here is the info on La Bella too:

Hours: Monday: 9am - 3pm
Tuesday - Saturday: 9am - 7pm
Sunday: 11am - 5pm
Walk-ins Welcome!
