The other moms had great suggetions! I also get the Gerber graduates Lil Entrees for when my husband and I eat a late dinner, or something that my son can't eat (like steak or something that's too spicy for him). I've always tried feeding my son what we eat as much as possible. It's cheaper and easier than making 2 different things, and it's a good way to introduce new foods.

The reason she can do finger foods but not stage 3 is because stage 3 comes with liquid and solids and that takes a very advanced eatting ability to sort the solids and chew then but still swallow the liquids. Lots of kids have problems with stage 3, she is not alone.

Here is what we feed Catherine 11 months, and she has never had baby food from a jar or pureed foods just finger foods she can feed herself. I got one of those Vidalia Chop Wizards as see on TV, lol, from Bed Bath and Beyond, They cut perfect little cubes and so they make prefect baby finger foods. I just chop the stuff and steam it in the microwave, they free it in ice cube trays and they pop it out into freezer baggies. Heat it up later for meals.

So she eats...

Banana (just cup up on her tray uncooked)
Avacado (just cup up on her tray uncooked)

all these things steamed
Carrots
Sweet potato
Egg plant (pealed)
Apples
Pears
Peaches
Apricots
Squash Just barely steamed they get soft fast
Zuchinni Just barely steamed they get soft fast
Peas
Green beans
Lima beans
Pinto beans

Later I will add brocolli, boiled chicken in chunks, eggs, ( we wait until after a year for those) and other fruits and veggies, those are just the ones she is on now.

Another fun food would be blueberries, messy but fun.

She also likes saltines and graham crackers and oyster crackers, those are a great size.

Remember to wait 3-4 days after introducing a new food to watch for allergies.

I do feed ehr with a spoon oatmeal, cream of wheat and long grain brown jasmine rice but just because it is messy. ALL those are the adult food not baby food, nothing processed. She loves adult rolled oatmeal with just a tiny but of butter.

Good luck,
C.

I buy my 10 month old the gerber graduates diced fruits and veggies, and she loves them. I also buy her the gerber graduates lil sticks. She loves these as well. I also give her cubed cheese, banana slices, cut-up grilled cheese sandwiches, gerber puffs, tortellini noodles, raisins, cheerios, and toast, or whatever we're eating that she might enjoy a bite of. Just start giving her bites of what you have and you can learn what she likes that way. To start though, I would use the cheerios and raisins and bananas. Bon appetite!
