My 14 month old daughter has a diaper rash that never goes away. We put Diaper Goop on her every diaper change. We use wet wash rags insted of wipes. We have tried Pampers, Huggies, Luvs, and the cheapo brands. We do not have access to any places that have all natural diapers of cloth diapers. So my question is has anybody else had this problem? We have changed her diet. I think she has very sensitive skin. She cant even wear cloths that have tags of they give her a rash. Now I am looking into trying new diapers so I need help because I an going to have to buy them online. What works and what dont work and what leaks and what dont leak. HELP ME PLEASE. I feel like everytime I put a diaper on her I am hurting her. I feel horrible!

What can I do next?

I would see the dr... but also try Bordeaux's Butt Paste. I think it is the best and works wonders!

We had this problem too. I didn't even realize it was the diaper until I bought a different brand because I had a coupon! I just thought that it was because my son had really sensitive skin.

Anyway, we used to use Luvs (that was the one that he always had a diaper rash with). Now we use Target brand...LOVE THEM! And they are cheap!

I also don't have acces to cloth except via internet. Could you get them there? That's where most people do. Just a thought. It really sound like she needs to be in cloth is she is getting rash that bad and by tags off of clothes. Maybe try going to a dermatoligist. Huggies also has a "natural brand" It has chemicals, but not as many.

This is definitely a concern you'll want to address with your child's pediatrician.

If you haven't taken her to her pediatrician you should, because she could have a yeast rash or bacterial folliculitis, and then she will get medicine to treat it. Not all diaper rashes are the same.
You can get cloth diapers online, a basic search will turn up a ton of results. If you have the money, the organic cotton all in one or pockets are the best. If you need the cheap route, the cotton prefolds with covers (I strongly prefer snaps to velcro) are the way to go, although they are bulky. We use pocket diapers, but our kids don't have super sensitive skin. I would keep using wet wash rags instead of wipes.
Also, try the triple thick Desitin for her rash if you get confirmation that it's just normal diaper rash.
And let her go diaper-free as much as possible. You can let her sleep diaper-free on a bunch of towels or cloth prefolds when she naps. Air time will help it heal.

You will need to check with your pediatrician on this one. When my daughter had this problem we found out that she had VERY sensitive skin and excema. I had to start using Dove sensitive skin body wash for bathing her and Cetaphil lotion after. I used the generic brands of both and they worked great!! The rash cleared up in just a couple of days. I also used the Pampers Sensitive Skin diapers on all my kids and loved them!! Anytime I would use a different brand, they would break out. So, I just stuck with what worked. I hope this helps!

Does she cry when you change her? is her skin broken or bleeding? If not, Yay for u!! You are doing great!!! LOL
My son went through the same thing when we were weaning him off formula to milk. Have you thought about it being the milk she's drinking and not the diaper? My son broke out in rashes with regular whole milk and soy milk (soy was the worst. His skin is still peeling.) I swithched him to Lactaid milk and his rash started clearing up and he's not had anymore since.

Don't feel horrible. we all have to go through some things to know what not to do later. It sounds like she's your first. I was the same way with my oldest but trust me it's not as bad as you think. Keep her bottom clean, let her walk around bare for a little while to give her skin some fresh air, and keep loving on her! Good luck!

My 4 year old had a rash on his privates and around his thighs for months and we took him to the doc numerous times and he ended up having a yeast infection on top of a strep infection, after he took the antibiotics for awhile it receded a bit but never fully. The next time it flared we took him to the doc again and learned that he was allergic to his sweat, and our doc had us mix liquid malox and aquaphore together and use it like rash medicine. Just something to think about.

My oldest son would get a terrible rash once in a while and the only thing that helped was a type of Pampers with aloe stripes in it. I don't know if these are made any more or not because the other children didn't have that problem. We used cloth most of the time and as long as they were kept dry, the babies didn't develop rashes.
One thing I did often was let them go without a diaper so that area could get totally dry.

You can order any diapers plus natural ones from Amazon and Diaper.com and have them shipped to you. Plus, if you get Amazon prime, you get free, 2-day shipping!

One thing -have you taken her to the doctor about it? It sounds like she has a yeast infection, which is very common for babies in diapers. They can give you prescription cream and help you out. It may clear it right up and you can keep using regular diapers.

We had the same problem. We use the Huggies Pure and Natural (white and green packaging) and that seems to help. We also give some "air time" where my daughter doesn't have any diaper on for a little bit. If your store doesn't carry them, try www.diapers.com. They deliver by the next day!

I agree with Julie B (if it's is a diaper issue) that you should try more "natural" diapers using Amazon. I've been using Seventh Generation diapers since my DD was born and have never had any problems with diaper rash except for the time she was on antibiotics which is known to sometimes cause yeast infection. I have been ordering the diapers through Amazon and right now if you sign up for their subscription program you receive an additional 30% off plus the 2-day shipping.

If it is a yeast infection, you might make yogurt a regular part of her diet. Good luck!

I know you said you tried Huggies but they have a Natural Huggies at Walmart and all the big stores that I really liked; they seem different from from their regular diapers. Oh and the cream didn't seem to work as well as this organic powder at babies r us that got rid of it better than creams.

Have you tried cloth diapers? A website to buy new and gently used diapers is www.diaperswappers.com or craigslist.

I'm not sure about disposable diapers to try, but I would either try the sensitive brands or the super absorbent until you determine if it is sensitivity or moisture. I would go to the doc for the rash, but you also might look into teething. You don't say where the diaper rash is, but it could be the more acidic bms from teething. If that is the case, try some probiotics too.

I would have her checked for the rash. My daughter had one starting about 12 months or so. It just would not go away, regardless of creams or diapers. I felt awful because it seemed to hurt so much. I though it might be yeast or one of the many other things I have seen mentioned on here by other moms. It turned out to actually be a form of eczema. She is fine now, only gets a little bit every now and then so i am hoping she is outgrowing it.

I am using cloth with my second child and I have had no problems, much better than with my first. Only a few days here and there of redness. Also, you could apply lanolin at every night and nap to protect the skin.

If it is really a diaper issue -- we have used Seventh Generation diapers and wipes for years now with no complaints. I get them from Diapers.com. I would definitely follow up with your ped. to be sure its not something more, but get a bag or two of these to see if they help. We also use California Baby Calming Diaper Cream as needed. A little of this goes a long way, and it clears up redness on my daughter quicker than others we have tried. GOOD LUCK! I hope you find your solution for your babygirl!!

I'd get the rash double checked by a dermatologist, it may be an ingredient in the diapers but it could also be the soap you bathe her in or the detergent you use on the wash cloths even if it's a free & clear etc. They'd be able to give you a better idea of whether or not it's a dermatitis or something else and what else to try. Changing her as soon as possible might help (I know more diapers = more money ugh!) she could just be sensitive to the wet. As far as cloth I know a lot of people like Bum Genius. For store brand disposables I really like Target's.
