So What Happened?

Thanks to everyone that has responded to me. I love to hear about other parents views and experience. I will continue to look, however I have added my daughter to the waitlist at edu-prize since there is a very long wait! Thanks to all!

I also live in Gilbert and struggled with where to put my daughter into school. I wasn't exposed to public education and really wanted the best for my kids. We couldn't afford Rancho Solano and it was impossible to get into Edu-Prize. So we settled on the elementary school in our area and have been EXTREMELY happy with it. Our daughter is in first grade and her teacher is excellent. They are using a top notch math program (Saxon math) and do a lot of writing. When my next child enters school in the fall, I won't have any qualms about enrolling her in our public school.

I have two daughters that atttend Eduprize campus in Queen Creek and we LOVE it.
There test scores are up, small class room sizes, hands on teachers!
My youngest is in Kindergarden and she knows more than my older daughter did when she was in Kindergarden. They expect alot out of all the kids. I would not put them anywhere else.

Hi!
It probably depends on what you're looking for in a school. I have a friend who I think was a little leary of public school in general and who's been very satisfied with Eduprize. As far as public schools go, though, Gilbert Schools are known to be amoung the best. I live in Mesa but worked for Gilbert schools for awhile. They seem to hire more support staff (teacher's assistance, etc.), train them and pay them better, which can make a huge difference in how much extra help your child recieves and how much time the actually teacher is able to focus on just teaching. My sister works in the District office and finds that a lot of people move to Gilbert specifically for their schools. I'm not sure if I understand how school funding works or if I heard this right but I think property taxes are higher in Gilbert in order to put more money into their schools. I might be wrong. But at any rate Gilbert has a good rep.

Hi! I used to be a teacher at Rancho Solano and could offer a little advice about schools in the Gilbert area. There are many good schools in the area, it just depends on what kind you are looking for and the personality of your child. Rancho Solano is a great school that caters mostly to the children who are more on the advanced side. It is very focused on academics and they teach one year ahead of the grade your child is in (if your daughter is going to kindergarten she will be taught a first grade curriculum). There is an entrance test/placement test required before she can go to Rancho. If your daughter is an active child who has trouble sitting for long periods of time (as my son is!), this may not be the school for her. Gilbert public schools might be a better choice for her. Gilbert has a great school district. I have never worked for them but know many teachers who have/presently do and like them very much. A couple other good schools to check out in the Gilbert area are Chandler/Gilbert Academy (Gilbert Rd just south of Ray), Chandler Traditional Academy (4 locations). Please let me know if I can answer any other questions for you. Hopefully this will help a little!
