Need Help Finding a Female Gynecologist with Endomitriosis Specialty in Area

Hi! I need some assistance finding a female gynecologist who might have endomitriosis treatment as part of her specialty.

My oldest daughter, who is about to turn 17, needs to start going to a ob/gyn. She is having problems with intense cramping during her periods, etc. She has the same symptoms I had over 10 years ago when they discovered and treated endomitriosis for me, so I feel we need to be doubly careful due to the possibility of a genetic similarity, and have her see not only a gyno, but a specialist in endomitriosis.

I go to see one now, but he is a male, and my 17 year old is VERY sensitive and doesn't want to see a male. She refuses to go unless it's a female, and I understand her concern. SO - trying to seek someone she feels very comfortable with.

I live in Warrenville, IL, and am hoping that we can find a local female doctor. Does anyone have some positive recommendations? Also, if you've had a negative experience with a local female doctor, let me know that too - I can avoid the negatively referred doctors.

Thank you all for your help.

S.

DuPage Medical Group - plenty of female doctors there - all of whom are excellent!

They have offices in Danada off of Blanchard there too.

Good luck!

I don't know which part of Warrenville you are in or how far you want to drive, but I use an ob/gyne group from CDH and I have really liked them. If you visit the website--cdh.org, under find a doctor you can specify gender and specialty when looking for a doc. The group I see includes Johnson, Clasen, Freeman and Chang (all females) and Freeman and Chang are also on the younger side if that would make her more comfortable. Good luck!

I LOVE the Rush-Copley Ob/Gyn group. Dr. Andrea Jones and Dr. Bernardita Druhan have EXCELLENT bedside manner. They are a GREAT group. I love every doctor I met in that group (the ones named are the females) and I met all except one. I live near 59 and 64 and go all the way to Aurora for them because they are so excellent! You are a lot closer to them. I tried DuPage Medical and about half were okay and half I didn't like...I was not the least bit impressed by their bedside manner, especially after such an excellent group at Rush-Copley. People had told me they liked DuPage Medical a lot, but they were ones who didn't have another place to compare it to. They were alright, but Rush-Copley was just SOOO much better! Best wishes to you!

I too suffer from endomitriosis and have since I got my period at 12! I feel for you and your daughter. I see a wonderful female doc in Bloomingdate at Female Heatlthcare Associates on Army Trail Road just west of Gary Ave. I see Dr. Doris Wickman however she is on medical leave at this time but is due back in June. There is another woman doc that I saw when I was pregnant with my twins that I also liked. I don't know if she has a lot of experience with endo but I know she is a good doc. Dr. Wickman is very nice and very good, if you can wait I would see her but like I said Dr. Hardy is good. I know they also have offices in Naperville, not sure where? I like in Warrenville as well and Bloomingdale is not to far. Their number is ###-###-####. Good Luck. I know that going on birth control helped me when I am 17, not sure it that is something you want to do but it's something to think about. I also had two laporscopic (not sure I spelled that one right) surgeries that also helped with the pain.

Love my ob/gyn office, Naperville Womens Healthcare. They are located right by Edward Hospital. The doctors are fantastic and the entire staff is wonderful. I know that there is an ob/gyn that handles high-risk situations, she might be a good direction to start-Dr. Flannery. Dr. Lucric is also another fantasitc doctor there too. They have a 3rd doctor on staff, but I have not met her yet.

Hello,
I can understand where you are coming from. I have had problems since I was in the 4th grade. I also have endomitriosis.
First I want to warn you to stay away from Dr. Dmowski. I believe his practice is called Midwest Firtilty. Phone number is ###-###-####. All he wanted to do was cut me open at ever cyst he found in me. My husband and I have been trying to have a baby for many years. Told me I coudn't have, because the fertily shots would cause cancer with all the cyst.
I know you do not want to see a male doctor but for me I can not say enough postive things about Dr. Binor at Rush Copley. I have seen many many doctors male and female and Dr. Binor after 8 long years with all my problems that I have had along with my husband Dr. Binor got us pregant on the first try. The other cyst that Dr. Dmowski wanted to have surgery on Dr. Binor went in and popped it. NO SURGERY!!!!
I was also nervous about seeing a male but he made me feel so comfortable, calm, relaxed, I know that made it happen for my husband and I to have our son.
He is so cautious about all my symtoms. You know I can just go on and on about how good he is.
Dr. Binor's info

For a regular check up I go to
Tara L. Anderson M.D.
Rush Copley ###-###-####
She is very sweet and understand my problems. She is one or two doors down from Dr. Binor. They do work together. Which for me that is so great so if there is problems she calls him asap and they work together.

I have just found this awesome clinc on 59 and 103rd st. Women serving Women. They treat only women!!! Using different kinds of physical therapy. One is endomitriosis.
WSW ###-###-####
2940 Rollingridge Road
Naperville
I would check them out. It is so relaxing and so enjoyable when you visit them. When you get there ya don't want to leave its like a womens spa!!

I hope this helps you. I feel your pain and your daughter. I also missed alot of school in pain. Advil, heating pad,etc became my best friend. I was put on birth control at an early age to help the problems. Nothing seemed to help.
Now I take the birth control pill that you have a period every three months. It does help alot. May want to think of that also

Good luck!!!

Hi S.,
I have both my daughters being treated by MidWest Fertility center (offices in Naperville, Downers Grove etc) for PCOS. My younger daughter had laparascopic surgery at age 17 for endometriosis with Dr Amos Madanes. (We had earlier worked with Dr Natalie Schultz but she relocated to Indianapolis and we declined her invitation to continue seeing her at her new location.).

I also heard good things about Dr Sherron Brown located on Ogden Ave in Naperville but have not wanted to switch at this time.

My older daughter now 20 uses ob gyn in southeast Naperville located at 1220 Hobson Road (DuPage Medical Group) but I cannot find her doctor listed so its possible that doctor has moved...lots of female ob gyn provided within DuPage Medical Group. (My older daughter is attending college in North Carolina so we are also using some medical services in Durham, NC for her.)

If I had to start over, I would start with Dr Sherron Brown because she was recently recommended by a family friend (Diane Bubeck is nutrition counselor in south Naperville.).

I am interested in how things turn out for your daughter!

BTW my youngest daughter is also using a pill called Seasonale where she only has her period every 3 months (by prescription from MFC).

Sadly endometriosis does not yet have a cure but rather there are a variety of coping strategies. Since working with doctors, my daughter's ability to remain at school has improved. (We went through a time when she would get awful cramps, go to the nurse, and need to come home from school and just rest in bed taking advil. She compared notes with friends and discovered that her cramps were much worse than anybody else and asked me to take her to doctor to get help for her.)

Another treatment strategy but the side effects can be awful is a series of Lupron shots. We tried this but had to stop because of the side effects.

I have the absolute best group of gynies that are all women.
I have had friends with several different problems that I have referred to them and I have yet to get any negitive feed back. And now the same group of doctors delivery their babies too. At one point we were on a HMO and they were not on my perfered list I didn't care I paid out of pocket that is how comforable I am with them. Unfortunitly it might be alittle bit of a ride for you but totally worth it. They are in Downers Grove real close to 355 so the ride should not be to bad. The best bedside manner doctor and my favorite is DR. Elaine Chang phone is ###-###-####, they are located off of Ogden and Fairview. Its close to Oakbrook so you can always make an afternoon out of it or do lunch or dinner in one of the resturants nearby. Good luck - hope things go well.

You should ask your Gyne/OB for a referral for a female doctor for your daughter. Who better to provide a referral than another doctor.

My gynocologists all have specialties, I do not know what they are but I'm pretty sure one of them would have that specialty. Try the DuPage Medical Group Gynecologists. That's who my doctors are, maybe one of them can help. The number is 1-###-###-####, and they are located in Naperville.

Hi S., I go to Female Healthcare Associates. My doctor is Dr. Wickman (female). She has an office in Naperville at 636 Raymond Drive (probably not far from you). She has treated me for endo, I've gone through laprascopic surgery (sp?) and then treated me for severe adenomyosis, which is endometriosis within the muscles of the uterus. And a subsequent hysterectomy. She's seen it all :-) Hope that your daughter gets the help she needs.

I'm not sure where Warrenville is but my doctor is in Elk Grove Village is fantastic. Her name is Dr. Raenae Yockey. She has a nurse midwife named Nicole Quigley that is wonderful as well. I had endomitriosis a few years ago and they took care of my problem. Her number is ###-###-####. Good luck!
