Hi Moms! I could really use some help choosing a laptop computer. I am looking for portability and would like to use it for internet access and regular computer tasks on the go. I have a desktop from DELL that I am really happy with so I am considering either the DELL Inspiron 14 or 15. Not sure what type of wireless card I would need. I am pretty clueless about this stuff. They are offering free upgrades to 4GB memory. Any specific features that I should be looking out for? Anyone have experience with these DELL laptops? Any helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again, Moms!

I was always a dell girl until I got a mac. It took a week of getting used to, but I will NEVER buy a PC again! Mac's in the end are a lot easier... they make it so simple to use. And you don't get viruses like you would with a PC. They automatically hook up to any wireless in the area. In fact, my mac prefers to pick up the neighbor's wireless signal. The MacBook is the least expensive, but for my daily use I will never have to get more memory or upgrade to the more expensive one.
Good luck computer hunting!

I just bought the Inspiron 15 in January. I like it a lot. I am going to school online and was able to get Office 2007 for 49.99 when I bought the computer so it was a great deal. I have had no problems and I use it everyday for a couple hours each day. I bought mine at Best Buy and they were really helpful. i was very clueless when it came to what I wanted and because they do not work on commission there was no pressure to buy anything, but they answered my questions and asked questions about what was important to me. I'm not giving you advice, but you might even want to go there and ask the questions and if you can get a deal somewhere else, go there to buy it. I'm not sure if other places work on commission, but it was nice to know they (best buy) doesn't. I do not do well with pressure sales.

After looking at the 14 and 15 I would go with the 14. It has more memory, always a plus. A bigger harddrive, again a plus. And what looks to be a better wireless card.

I'd prefer a dell . From the research i did when i got my laptop , it looked like dell had the best deal. They are quite affordable compared to toshiba ,lenovo etc and are of really good quality. .Processor wise i'd go with Intel , cause i believe AMD doesnt do well with laptops .go for a core 2 duo..RAM and HDD depends on your budget... RAM dont go below 2-3gb and HDD not below 160-200gb.hope this helps.

Just buy online. so that u get good deals. If u have any questions u can email me.

I have no idea about wireless cards or memory but I do have a Dell Inspirion laptop. I LOVE it. It's pretty lightweight and is fast as can be. Dell support seems to be a waste but that's my only complaint. I will never own another brand laptop. It also seems to be pretty solid and can take a beating. My daughter stepped on it once and my fiance was taking it out of the car another time (in the carrying bag) and dropped it and it's fine.
