I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to get ink off of clothes? My One year got a hold of an ink pen and now we have an outfit that has ink all over it. Thanks

What can I do next?

spray hairspray on it before you wash it. Hairspray works best on ink stains! :) Good luck,

This is going to sound a little crazy but after waiting tables for so long you learn things like this. Take the outfit and saturate it with hairspray, let it sit for awhile (probably about 30-60 min) then wash normally. Make sure you check the stain before you put it in the dryer, once it is dryed you probably will not be able to get it out.I have done this countless times with white shirts when a pen has exploded in my pocket. Good luck.

Hairspray. My 10 yr old is just beginning to have pens at school, and frequently comes home with marks on his clothes from them. Spray it till it's soaked, then blot it with papertowels. Spray some more and blot, etc until no more comes out. The spray again and wash. Check it before it goes into the dryer. The dryer will "set" any stain that hasn't washed out.

Use acetone or finger nail polish remover. Test it on the fabric before soaking it but soaking the item for several hours in a small bowl or basin with acetone should do the trick.

hairspray.. I use Aussie Hair Spray(aresol not pump), cause i like the smell..it takes a bit of work, but it works..

Lay the stained area on top of a clean dry white towel. Apply Hair Spray to the ink stain and blot with another clean white cloth, removing the stain as you blot. Rinse thoroughly.

Apply your normal liquid laundry detergent onto the ink stain and allow the garment to sit for 3-5 minutes.

Wash in the warmest water that the fabric can tolerate.

Before drying, double check to make sure the stain was removed. If not, repeat the previous steps until it is.

Good Luck

A trick I learned back in high school.....spray it with aerosol hairspray! I know it sounds weird, but I used this trick many times and it lifted the ink out of the clothes and made it easier for it to fully come out when being washed.

I use diluted carpet cleaner to get ink out. Just 2 days ago...my nephew 6, decided that the pattern on my 2 week old couch was "traceable". I could have cried! But a little bit of diluted carpet cleaner and stain all gone!

I have found that hair spray works the best to get ink out of clothes. Let it sit for a minute, then rinse in cold water. Repeat until ink is gone. It may take some time though. Also, be careful when spraying. Make sure that the part of the fabric that you spray the hair spray on is not touching any other part of the fabric or it will bleed the ink onto it. I usually put a wash cloth or hand towel inbetween.
