Thank you so much for your input! My husband is Air Force as well and after hearing that McChord's preschool program is good I am going to call them Monday to hopefully get him in there January. Thanks so much!!!

If you aren't able to get your kids in at McChord, I second the recommendation to St. Andrews in Lacey. My daughter goes there as well and loves it.

Welcome to the area!

I'm not sure what the difference is between Pre-K and Preschool. Aren't they the same thing?

My son attended the McChord pre-school program for 2 years and went to Kindergarten (Franklin Pierce School District) with no problems. I don't recall the tuition costs, but it was really reasonable. 3 days a week for the 4-year old classes & 2 days a week for the 3-year old classes.

My daughter attended the Brookdale Community Preschool before starting Kindergarten, also with no problems. Their program is 4 days a week. She has just skipped 2nd grade and is now in 3rd. I know the preschool program helped with that.

There are a number of school and faith-based pre-schools out there that fulfill most "pre-K" curricula. It really depends on what you think your son needs before starting Kindergarten.

Best of luck to you!

My son went to the franklin pierce head start on the PLU campus. The school was awesome. Their enrollment is primarily based on your income and I paid nothing for my son's attendance. I'm not sure what the school number is but I believe the district number is ###-###-#### and the website is fpschools.org

McChord should have the same programs as Ft. Lewis- Strong Beginnings. My girls went for preschool, but not pre-k, I live in Lacey and got tired of the drive and initially was told that the program was 5 days a week, but received an email at one time indicating it was2, 3, or 5 days. My kids now attend St. Andrews (Methodist) Preschool in Lacey and really like it. There pre-k is 3 days a week and current tuition is $130 mo, with $85 enrollment that includes preschool tshirt.
