Candlewood OB/GYN. Coming from Ireland, I think they
would be perfect for you. Great group. Each doctor is
awesome. Good luck.

I too go to Physicians for Women and see Dr. LaMonica. He is a wonderful Dr and I have many friends who see him as well. Never heard a bad thing about him!

Hi N..Dr. Lamoinca has my vote all day long. He delivered my first baby and now i am pregnant with my second. Doctor Lamonica treats you like a person and not as a chart. Nothing bothers him he is always happy, nice and acts like you are his first patient of the day. When i have a problem i know i can call Dr. Lamonica and he will call me back not a nurse. When i had my first he stayed and delivered her even when his rounds at the hospital were up, he told me he was going to be there and he was. He has always returned my calls even it is a 10 pm. Doctor Lamonica is the best! You say his name within a 30 mile radius or more and someone will know him.

There are several good groups in Danbury. I would recommend either Dr. Foye's group or Dr. Rubin's group. Both are up by the Danbury HOspital.

Hi N.,
There are two main practices in the Danbury area. One is Candlewood. The other is Physicians for Women. I go to Physicians for Women. It's right across the street from the hospital. I love, love, love them. They're all good, but my Dr. is Dr. Lamonica and he is an amazing doctor!! Dr. Gilotti is also wonderful - she delivered my son. They're very accomodating too, as far as appts. etc.

Count me in as well for Dr. Lamonica. :)

There is no better--he truly, truly cares about his patients as people, and respects the individuality of each patient. Some drs are born to be physicians, and some drs are not. Know what I mean?

If he is not taking new patients, anyone in that group is fine too. I saw them all when I was pregnant.

I used Women's Health on Locust Avenue, across from the hospital emergency room. Doctor Rose Tamura was my physician when I had my baby late last year, and I really liked her. All of the doctors on the staff are really nice!

In case you're looking for an alternative to a traditional ob/gyn, I'd highly recommend the nurse-midwife practice in Danbury: http://www.ctbirthcenter.com/

They are three nurse-practitioners who have specialized training in midwifery, and they're backed up by MD's. I used Physicians for Women for my first pregnancy, and they were fine but it felt a bit impersonal since it's such a big practice. I was looking for a smaller practice for my second pregnancy, and especially practitioners who would be open to my preferences rather than just going with the standard medical protocol (eg, induction one week past due date). My second pregnancy (delivery) was a completely different experience as a result. I still delivered at the hospital (not at the birthing center), but they just have a different philosophy and approach to health and pregnancy than MD's do. Check them out! The location is equally convenient - right next door to Physicians for Women and across the street from Danbury Hospital. Good luck, and welcome to the area!

:) A.
