H moms! Has anyone heard of a push present? I know this is traditionally for women, but I would also like to get my husband a gift congratulating him on the birth of our daughter. Any ideas?? I am running out of time...only 11 more days until our scheduled c-section!! Thanks :)

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for all of the suggestions!! I decided to buy the book "101 things to do with your children before they leave home" and I wrote my husband a letter about how great of a father I know he will be. Both were well received!

Jenn-
My husband got a book from his mom about being a first time dad. You can also get him a photo or something that will be about him and the baby.

I made my husband for a Christmas gift a book about him and the boys. I used picaboo.com. He loved it so much. It's like making a album/book.

I got my husband a engraved photo key chain from Things Remembered. It's square and very masculine and only about 1.5-2 inches big. Not too big, not too heavy. They had a few things I was trying to decide between. Good luck!

How sweet but I wouldn't do it if i were you. You will be so busy when you are a mom that you don't want to set this president of giving him a gift and every year on your childrens birthdays, trust me.

Hi,
My gf just told me there is a book at Anthropologie at Kierland. Don't remember the name exactly, but it was something like 1001 things to do with your child before they move out?? I want one for mothers day! Good luck wiht your c-section. I've had 2. Take your meds and get up and walk as soon as possible and do it often.

Yes, I've heard of them. Some scoff, but I think they are a great idea, and well deserved.

Now, this is going to sound weird, but here's a suggestion. My dh isn't much for jewelry. However, I found a cool stainless steel bracelet I got him to mark a special moment. It wasn't expensive at all - there are some expensive ones out there, though. Piercing Pagoda has some inexpensive ones (gold ones are just too flashy for him). But I got one at Silverjewelryclub.com. $5.99 - and he'll never know! I also got him a titanium ring from there for another occasion. (Careful, the site can be addictive!)

The other thing that'll work well is a watch. I got DH a Movado one (I'm not always cheap!!) that he loves, when we were expecting our first, since I knew it would be the last "blow out" Christmas for awhile, since $ would be spent on the kids. Because he wears these two items all the time, he remembers each one for the symbolic reason they were gifted to him.

HTH!

Have you seen the figures from Willow Tree? They have a cool one of a father holding his baby. I got that for my husband on Father's Day when I was pregnant. After I had our son, my husband got me another Willow Tree figure of the parents and a baby. Very precious collection! I got mine at Hallmark. They also have some cool books in the parent section at Borders/Barnes&Noble for Dads/Moms that are neat gift ideas. Congrats!

Hi J.,
My daughter just had her first child in Feb.(my first grandchild... very exciting!). Anyway she went to things
remembered and bought her husband a cross similar to dog tags and had the baby's name and birthdate engraved on the back and he hangs it on the mirror in his truck. It meant alot to him.
I think sometimes dad's feal a little left out, especially right after the birth and I think it is nice to remember them in a special way. Hope this helps,
S.

My son has a shirt that says "I get my good looks from my dad" they make similar things for girls and my husband loves that shirt. Also, when my son was born I found a small frame that he could take to work to put pictures in and I try to keep the pictures updated. Another idea - if he uses a computer a lot, wait until the baby is born and have a picture made into a mouse pad. (I did that for my dad and father-in-law this year of the grand-babies and they loved it) It was only about $15 at a copy store.
One quick suggestion about C-section, I had one with my son, get up and walk as soon as you can and often after the baby is born. I know, it won't be easy or comfortable, but I promise it is so worth it. You will recover soooo much faster if you do. Best of luck with all and enjoy!

It completely depends on your price range, but what about a tie tac that is custom. Like with your little ones birthstone on it or birth date. Or if your hubbie is the handy man type, why not a tool box in either pink or blue to encourage him in the things that he will be able to teach your little one. Of course my husbands favorite gift was something sexy for me to wear and a note that made some promises for when I was able to be intimate again.

What I gave as a present was a watch. We used it during the birth when I was in labor to time my contractions and he had it on when I finally delivered so he knew the exact time our son was born.

Jenn,

It sounds like she is the present. I am sure he is going to be overwhelmed with the whole experience. Althought a nice framed photo of him holding her for the first time would be a great memorie. Mabey you could have a frame engraved and present it to him after the big bang is over and you have a quiet moment ( and I do mean MOMENT). You sound like a thoughtfull and loving wife, I am sure whatever you do will be great. R.

If your husband is a comical guy, what about putting together a basket of things he can use - but are funny at the same time. A clothes pin for plugging his nose when he changes diapers - a box of rubber gloves - tongs to remove the diaper. etc.

You definately have more energy than I did at this point! Congrats!

Hey J..
I wanted to let you know I have the perfect gift to give to your husband! It is a Heritage Makers digital scrapbook/storybook. You can write out your dating story along with some pictures, photos of your wedding and marriage up until now and then write to him about what an amazing father he is going to be and how you are looking forward to sharing this adventure with him. This is not only something he will treasure but it is something that your children will cherish and love to read when they get older. It is so easy to make a digital scrapbook and they are gorgeous! Here is the website below and I would love to set up a computer meeting with you and show you around the website and help you get started. Thanks and congrats!

I bought my husband a frame when our duaghter was born and had it engraved (things remembered) She was due right around Father's Day and his birthday so I wanted something just in case. It says "I love you Daddy" and 16 years later it still sits on his desk with updated photos.

Make a shirt that says, "#1 Dad!" and leave a spot to put the babies hand or footprints. When he leaves to go grab a bite to eat at the hospital, put the baby's prints on the shirt, put it in a gift bag and hand to him when he comes back.

OR

Write him a letter about how great of a father he will be, how proud of him you are and how thankful you are that he is your husband!

A laundry basket filled with detergent, dreft pre treater, an I love daddy bib, diapers, etc. My husband's big thing after our first was that he didn't know what to do to help. fill the basket with ideas. personalize it with a #1 daddy photo frame (kohls has super cute ones) to hold that just born and in daddy's arms photo.
