Need an Allergist

Hi! My almost 3yr old son has a dairy allergy and I am looking for a new allergist. We have been going to our current one for the past 2 years and everytime we go all he does is talk about his 15 yr old son and how great he is at baseball and only spends about 5 minutes asking about my son. Any recommendations would be great. We are in Palm Harbor but willing to travel to find someone we like. Thanks!!

What can I do next?

I don't have an allergist but for my daughters dairy issues we have her take Digestive Advantage once daily childrens lactose intolerance therapy. You can find it in the grocery stores or wal mart. One pill she chews in the morning and we have no problems with dairy. I am also lactose intolerant and take the adult version once a day. This has been a life saver for us since I used to take pills with every meal!
Good Luck

I found a really great allergist for my 3 year old son. It's in the carrolwood area of Tampa (Dale Mabry & Bearss). I got an appt in less then a week of calling and the dr I saw was really good with my son. Let me know if you want the name and #. Good luck!

Please go to Dr. Stephen Klemawesch in St. Petersburg! He is so smart and has won numerous awards in his field.

I went to two doctors before him (including Dr. Sher) and they could not figure out what was causing my 15 month-old-son's allergies. The first doctor wouldn't test him at all. Dr. Sher had blood tests and a scratch test done on him and when nothing turned up he just dismissed us and said his problems were behavioral.

I saw Dr. K in February. He discovered that my son has a weak immune system and as a result his tests are not coming up accurate. He also discovered that my son has a wheat allergy through a test that Dr. Sher never ran.

This doctor is incredible! He is about an hour from Palm Harbor but worth the drive. The staff is so patient and friendly. I have to go back next week. You won't be disappointed with my recommendation! The wait list is long for him but you can always get in on a cancellation.

My son goes to Dr. Roberto Garcia he has offices on Sheldon Road just outside of Westchase and one in South Tampa I believe. We rarely see him, but the nurse practitioner is great.

The best part is NO SHOTS... he does sublingual (under the tongue) drops rather than shots, much easier for everyone involved!

I have taken my 6yo son to Advanced Allergy Relief Center on Tampa Rd. in Oldsmar (Oldsmar Town Center) for his various allergies - they don't use shots or meds, but "retrain the body's response to the allergen" using e-stim. I'm the 1st one to disbelieve any alternative medicine, but this has been amazing - he very clearly does not get hives when he comes in contact with a dog (the most noticeable allergy he has). Because it is alternative medicine it is not covered by insurance, but it's not outrageously priced. It's advertised in the Parent Guide. Ph# is 1-877-Y-SNEEZE.

My daughter has allergies to dairy, nuts, wheat, eggs, and the list goes on. She has been seeing Dr. Sher in Largo since she was one. He's kind of a quirky doctor, but very good at what he does. He is well respected in the pediatric community and comes highly recommended by pediatricians and moms alike.

Best of luck to you. The contact info is below:

I would like to recommend Dr. Susan Player in Clearwater, on Gulf to Bay. She is an amazing nutritionist, and incredibly is on time with her appointments or credits you some of your visit cost.

T., I don't have an allergist to suggest, but I hope that you will consider rating your current allergist on mamasource. You can add a review. That way people will know to avoid this guy, since he obviously does not sound very competent!
