Hi Moms,
I'm hoping I can tap into your wisdom and get a good matress for my son. We are transitioning him to a bed that will eventually be a bunk bed. My questions are 1 do you have a shop you would recommend? 2 do you have a manufacturer you've had success with?

My husband and I bought a Serta a few years ago and it has proven to be a lemon. We purchased it from Mancini's so I'd rather not go there either.

Thanks in advance for your advice!

What can I do next?

Rats... We bought our daughter's first big girl mattress at Mancini and it was a Serta. We shopped at the one on Saratoga and Quito/Lawrance. They were really great for us and helpful. Maybe try a different store. I love her mattress so much, I often fall asleep while reading her stories or get up in the middle of the night (when she's come in the master bed) and sleep in her bed.

Sorry, I can't be any help.

Hello S.,
We just bought our 4 years old daughter a great twin mattress set from costco.com a week ago.
I've been shopping for weeks and comparing prices, quality, and I went to all matress stores in the Peninsula... and we found that costco offers the lowest prices for the best quality.
We bought our daughter: Seally Posturepedic, cushion firm, and it's highly recommended for children.
Costco has in stock a set for bunk bed as well.
Hope this help.
Best wishes

We got our son's mattress from IKEA a couple years ago. They had many to choose from and very reasonable prices. Our son (7 years old) has a loft bed (from IKEA also) and it was hard to find a mattress thin enough (and still comfortable) for safety with the railing. We bought one of their foam mattresses and he sleeps very well on it--too well, it's hard to wake him up for school in the mornings. :)

We purchased our 2nd Stearns & Foster mattress a year ago and LOVE it. The first one lasted over 20 years and finally wore out. We purchased mattresses for two of our grandchildren at the same time (same brand). Sleep Train on Blossom Hill took really good care of us. If the mattress is to be used in a bunk bed, there's a special type of box spring that goes with the mattress. We shopped several stores, including Mancini, and chose ST because the sales rep was knowledgeable without being pushy. She also told us about that bunk bed box spring, which extends the life of the mattress. They run specials all the time, like 12 months no interest financing (important when the purchase exceeds $3000.) With New Years in a few days, I'd be surprised if they didn't offer something.
Good Luck!

I bought Sealy Posturpedic mattresses for my kids (now 11 and 16) years and years ago at Costco and they are still great. Inexpensive, too. They loved my memory foam mattress topper so I eventually bought that at Costco, too. Got a king size and cut it in half.
