With the winter approching, I would like to get advice on which cool mist humidifier is the best. I've read reviews that some leak badly and filters are expensive. Wondering if anyone has had a good experience with any.

What can I do next?

I got a cheap one from Wal-Mart-I don't know if it does anything. I wouldn't get a cheap one.

Good luck!

I have a cool mist vaporizer, I think it is the same or similar to a humidifier. These do not take any filters and they disperse a cool mist into the air.

I got a Crane brand one at Target. It worked really well and was so quiet. There is a plain one and they also have a Hello Kitty or a frog, cow, dog, etc.
It never leaked or anything. We are very happy with it.

We got a Vicks cool mist one at Target - it broke a week later and we exchanged it for a "warm mist" one - ie a safe water boiler. Much more "low tech" and no cool looking mist, but it does the job and because it's so simple, will never break. Not to mention, it's cheaper. I recommend AGAINST the "cool mist" - expensive, and it's no better at humidifying than other technology.
